"A mum who had sex with her 15-year-old son because he seduced her has avoided jail." "HE seduced HER"- so now a CHILD is to blame for his FIFTY year old mother raping HIM?? Because he is male? Can you BELIEVE the double standards boys & males now face??!!

Two women murder young male "because it was something they'd always wanted to try doing". As usual, news reports keep it off the front page, and bury it in sub sections. Imagine the reporting if the genders were reversed?

The Green party officially announces a huge change, tells people "DON'T give any money to charity or men anymore-give it ONLY to WOMEN instead". Can we now admit the modern Left are the worst man haters & feminists? And I write this as a shocked & stunned Left winger.

Feminist favourite, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau, learns the hard way that-even if youre a White Knight-somewhere, somehow, there'll always be an offended feminist who can take you down, as he's accused of 'groping'. Ahhh, the irony.....

They have a president that was raped and then ended up marrying his rapist, but the problem is that people say mean things?

[–]Tank-o-grad 15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's not even that they say mean things, it's that the words describing humans are masculine (I suck at languages but masculine vs feminine sets whether you use la and un or le and une, if memory serves). The western world is lucky the British beat the French and Spanish when it came to controlling North America, this would be an enormous deal for the 3rd wavers if French was the world's dominant language (for now).

They object to the neutral being the masculine default. When you have 1 masculine object or person, you use masculine. When you have 1 feminine object or person, you use feminine. When you have multiples, only 1 masculine object is needed to change it to masculine, but feminine only happens if all objects are feminine.

In short, in a group of 18 women and 2 men, you use masculine default to refer to the group.

So when you use feminine, you exclude men, too. If you say the word for nurse in French, infirmière, you're excluding male nurses (and they do that all the fucking time).

Thanks for the clarification, the joys of Romantic languages, never could get my head round them.

He certainly was not. People who seek to distort things can call it whatever you like, but there's no claim that he was raped.

Statutory rape is not rape anymore? Its open season on young people according to you?

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A 13 year old girl can consent to a 25 year old man to have sex, but its still rape under the eyes of the law.

This is the sort of thing that turns us all against each other and makes us afraid to just exist in society. It fragments unity and stops us focusing on the serious issues in life and uniting over important issues. Its also the sort of thing that shows us how toxic feminism has become, and how powerful too.

[–]grundb 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

We had the same discussion in german. It is even more drastic in a language where pronouns change their endings when followed by a male or female noun. (And just for the record, grammatical gender and biological gender are two entirely different things.)

So feminists want to replace the endings of nouns and pronouns with an x, making sentences utterly bizarre. Comedian Dieter Nuhr made fun of this when he said "I don't want to live in a world in which a book ends with the sentence Dx Mördx war dx Gärtnx."

[–]starkillerrx 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Brazilian Portuguese is facing the same issue. "Amigos/Amigas" becomes the unpronounceable "Amigxs", for example.

What. It this a thing? Don't they have anything better to worry about?

See? Feminist insanity is spreading globally to even telling men how to speak.

If the feminists defeat the French, what hope do the rest of us have?

The French wouldn't even let email be called email... it had to be courriel or some nonsense. THIS bureaucracy is going to fall to feminism?

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

it is a witch hunt

[–]brontide 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Part of the reason French is a popular language is it's strong central authority the Académie Française in deciding the path of the language. In the past these changes have been slow and predictable. I get gender agreement by majority rather by exclusion, but this non-gendered gibberish is nonsense like xim.

[–]mikesteane -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I disagree. Part of the reason French is an unpopular language (it is falling into disuse in all the former French colonies and despite British schools for nearly a century is barely spoken there) is the attempt to control it centrally, resulting a an unwieldy grammar which has not been worn smooth by time.

[–]hatefulreason 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

why does it bug me so much that feminism and other bullshit is called "left wing" ?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I've been feeling this for a long time as well. Feminists are holding the left back by trying to replace the idea of class problems with with gender problems.

I honestly think it's one of the bigger causes for why racism and the such are on the rise again: Men with little education and low social status who feel set back by society can't accept "leftist" ideology because feminists are making them out to be in power. Which they aren't. They're basically on lowest rung of society. They have shit jobs where people get hurt, with no ensurance and low pensions. Attractive women barely look at them. How are you gonna raise a family with a man like that?

Normally leftist ideology tries to help these people by unionising, providing higher wages, and more schooling to poor people. You can argue if it's helping (I think it is), but you can't argue that this originally the leftists intention.

Now there's nowhere for these men to go but into the open racists arms who try to obfuscate problems by blaming everything on skincolor. It becomes their only way to feel empowered. It's sad, and it's putting all of humanity in a worse spot.

[–]Rethgil[S] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Many very astute points.

[–]Aivias 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If leftists really want to shift things back to serious working mans rights then they need to ditch a lot more than just the feminists. You gotta lose the neo-libs, race baiters, Marxists, post-modernists, social constructionists, radical relativists, LGBT politics, apex fallacies and identity politics.

[–]Rethgil[S] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All I can say is; regardless of what we agree or disagree on, we acknowledge its feminists doing this.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

One of the key points of George Orwell's "1984" was that if you control language you control thought.

Unfortunately the political Left read it as "How To" manual, not a warning.

[–]RobbyHawkes 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It cuts both ways. Totalitarian little shits are the problem.

[–]Rethgil[S] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well its specifically hardcore feminists who are demanding this.

[–]imbecile 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If we are startign to overhaul the grammar of our languages, I think there are other concepts that need far more adjustments than gender.

Gender is a social reflection of sex, and since sex is one of the most important aspects in the life of most multicellular life, it isn't that unsurprising that pretty much language reflects that reality in its most basic constructs.

And changing language to not reflect that reality and distinction anymore and thus making communication about sex and gender more difficult is not something that will be very successful I think.

A grammatical construct that I would like to see adopted in every language is that the veracity:

There is a South American language, where the form of the sentence changes depending on how the speaker knows about the statement he makes:

  • whether he saw it with his own eyes
  • whether he deduced it from other circumstances
  • or whether he was told about it by others

If that kind of grammar would be widely adopted, science communication would be a lot more straight-forward and propaganda and dishonest advertisement would be a lot more difficult.

[–]RobbyHawkes 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Under the standard rules, masculine trumps feminine in plurals, meaning, for example, that a man and a woman are described as “amis”. Two or more friends are called “amies” only when no men are included.

To put it another way, there's a special case for when it's all women. Funny how you can cast the same situation in many different lights.
