My current wife is delicate.

Family Law needs Reform.

I recommend mandated lower costs and less reward for false claims of abuse. Parental alienation is destructive(?). I loved my children as much as a husband + father could. I see no light.

Recommend: an authority consultant during high contact separations as its employed(?) in family law.

Sorry Dad + Angie. I'm very sorry.

And while I was out doing my errands today, CBC Radio (operates on federal funding) had this bit on Suicide in Canada, but they spent the entire segment talking about women & LGBTQ suicides. They didn't once mention the male suicide epidemic.

The court needs reform, but women will never vote for it, and too many blue pilled men either don't believe it's an issue or don't care because it could never happen to them because they found a NAWALT.

This breaks my heart. There was a fight my husband and I had years ago and for some reason he thought I would divorce him and he would lose our son.

It broke my heart to see what it looks like to actually be a possibility for someone, especially the man I love. I practically yelled at him to really let it sink in that he can never think that ever again. I married his ass and no matter how much I feel like I hate him at the moment or how mad I am, I'm his wife and that was part of the deal to sometimes feel that way. It never lasts long. Anyways, even if he wanted to divorce ME, I would never take our kids. What kind of monster wants their kids to grow up without a father?!?!!!!!!! What kind of monster????

I was in the crappy position to be divorcing in 1994 with one child in Alberta.

At that time the justice pendulum was swinging from non-custodial parents not paying much if anything with no enforcement to the early stages of where we are today. In fact I believe that it was worse in the early 90s and things have settled back a bit. (but not enough to be fair.)

At that time I joined a group of men (and some women) in my province that advocated fairness in legislation around family court and divorce. I was the contact person for my small town for the group for a couple of years.

As the contact person, the role degenerated from working to help recommend legislative action, to being the person that men in distress called to get it off their chests. I was also the local person that radfems could call and advise me I was a deadbeat etc. (even though early in my divorce process I was granted custody of my daughter and she lived with me until she was 18)

I believe that these types of groups tend to peter out as the people who really care only find it's an issue for a few years and they just move on with life. It was exhausting for me as I was going through my own process as well as helping others through theirs.

Our group even had a bit of press coverage in Edmonton and each TV story ended up being twisted to support the feminist agenda, it was maddening watching it.

Yet they politicize deaths all the time, the entire BLM movement is politicizing deaths, which isn't wrong at all- politics is a tool to fix social ills, why not use it?

I had to stop feeling when my daughter was permanently stolen from me. 3 years left till she's 18.

Some commenters here have gone to some lengths to paint this man as some sort of irresponsible "deadbeat dad" who "lied" and "failed" - eventually - "took the easy way out". Those are their opinions and they are entitled to express them.

I disagree with them. Not because I think this bloke was some sort of unimpeachable character who martyred himself as a protest, nor because I think suicide is a noble act. It is simply that this man - partly through his own actions - found himself in a hopeless, endless bind. I defy anyone who reads the facts of his recent life and who can imagine themselves in his situation to deny that he and his children deserved better.

I do not think people should be excused anything. But when embittered ex-partners (ab)use a compliant and complaisant legal system to exploit another fallible human being, there are no "winners". Least of all those children in whose name the law was invoked in the first place - sod the money, they have to live with the knowledge that they will never know any relationship with their father.

I know I'm going to get downvoted to oblivion for this, but the court decision is worth a read. This guy is not the martyr the newspaper article makes him out to be. Some notes:

The expert he hired jointly with his wife determined that his income was around $350k/year, but he was paying support as though his income was $181k/year.
He voluntarily agreed to the level of child and spousal support to his ex-wife and daughters.
He denied paternity of his son for two years, refusing to take a paternity test until ordered to by the court. Even when ordered to get paternity testing, he stalled for almost a year.
He lied about his business failing. He had simply changed the named of the business and made his father and new wife the figureheads.
He tried to hide the new business (and his new wife's salary from it) from the mothers of his kids and the court. His wife's own evidence was that she was getting paid without doing any work for the new business.
He failed to produce for the court full financial disclosure, as previously directed, which would have allowed him to substantiate his claim that his income had decreased significantly.
His requests of the court included nothing whatsoever about access with any of his children, or any allegations of parental alienation. He was apparently only concerned about money.

Bad things sometimes happen to good people in family court, but this really doesn't seem like that kind of situation. The evidence strongly suggests that this guy was doing everything he possibly could to pay as little support for his children as possible.

Instead of taking the easy way out, he could have dedicated his life to helping other men in his situation.

He's never gonna see his kids again, and they have to live with that suicide forever.

Selfish.
