The feminist assumption is that in cases where the male partner beats the female partner, he is doing it without provocation. In many case, though, men are simply snapping after intense provocation.

[–]NeverVoteAgain 15 points16 points17 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There are many Feminists who think that men use violence to control women and children and that women don't do it. Just another lie, nothing new. In fact, women have the power more often than men in relationships, but who needs facts when you can lie and nobody cares.

[–]nocivo 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Many woman are specialized in the worst violence. The metal violence that is hard to track.

[–]NorseGodLoki0411 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Sadly I don't think this is an excuse. You should go to the police and report domestic abuse by her instead of "snapping." And yeah I know I doubt they'll do anything but laugh, but I don't think the answer is to hit her back. The answer is no one hits anyone.

[–]Sinsilenc 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You cant do that usually because you will be put in jail rather than her.

[–]NorseGodLoki0411 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But she hit you, and you're going in to report it. Why would they throw you in jail if you're the victim? /s

One day that /s won't need to be there. One day...

[–]nocivo 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because you are a man.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sadly I don't think this is an excuse. You should go to the police and report domestic abuse by her instead of "snapping."

Not as easy as it sounds. First, you would need, at the very least, recorded evidence of the abuse occurring in real-time because "He said, she said" testimony is highly skewed towards her story, regardless if fabrication. Second, even with video evidence and a solid foundation in your favor, if your state's police departments refer to The Duluth Model when following procedure then YOU are the one carted to jail.

Afterwards, better pray the court system doesn't take her word for it at face value either.

[–]DrunkenDropout 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Even if you "snap", you don't have the right to beat someone. If you feel that's the case it's my opinion that you seek help for that.

[–]contractor808 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Has no one aggressively been in your personal space or said the most vile things about you/people you love? What a naive thing to say. You're moral enlightenment doesn't change the reality of OP's comment.

[–]DrunkenDropout 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, sure. But haven't made the situation better by beating the hell out of the person. Shitty people exist. If they're not a threat just walk away and go on with your life.

so you belive you can beat you wife if you become provoced? why just not go away?

[–]contractor808 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No I don't believe so, nor did OP say that was what should be done. They stated that's what often happens, which is true and overlooked. It's part of the reason services for female offenders do not exist. They are not recognized as contributing to the situation.

[–]MisterDeagle 46 points47 points48 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The faster this country implodes the faster people will realise feminism is not the answer.

[–]furchfur 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wish too I hate this country and its policies with a passion.

[–]hunkertop -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not as fast as a sub that has to rely on Breitbart to validate their hatred.

[–]MisterDeagle 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Who needs Breitbart when you can just read it on the Swedish governmnets website.

[–]DaeusPater 16 points17 points18 points 9 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

This is propaganda. Recent studies on Intimate partner violence show that men are victims 44% of times whereas women are victims 58% of times. When you grade victims by the severity of damage received, women are disproportionately victims. But most of these cases are mutual offenders over long periods of time, the women are not innocent, they just got the last punch. This is price you pay for not taking male victims seriously early on. If they were taken seriously early on, the women offender would have been punished or separated from the men and the men would not have been forced to take part in the cycle of abuse.

[+]Blarneystone2 -10 points-9 points-8 points 9 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Are men not big enough to just leave an abusive relationship?

[–]DaeusPater 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A lot of men don't recognize abuse. The only mention of abuse in society is that caused by men no women - this gets internalized heavily. Not all abuse is a deal breaker, and additionally men are socialized to withstand or tolerate violence, so the threshold at which abuse becomes a deal breaker is much higher for men - mostly when the damage has already been done. Also many younger men have very idealized notions of relationships or love. It has been shown in many studies that men in general have fewer friends, so the impact of the loss of an intimate partner is more pronounced for men than for women. Also your question is a little stereotypical, not all men are 'big'. There are relationships out there where men are more 'small' or/and weaker or/and financially dependent. At other times, the abusive woman will refuse to leave the man's house.

[–]contractor808 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Big enough would mean bigger than the law enforcement system that locks up bleeding men or bigger than the family court system that enables false accusations.

[–]Blarneystone2 -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Or big enough to make a rational choice and leave the home.

[–]POSVT 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

pretty baseless assumption there - leaving the home is not always the rational choice.

[–]Blarneystone2 -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Every argument I have made so far are made about women in abusive situations that I have seen this sub parrot time and again.

[–]POSVT 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So....you had the opportunity to make a rational argument, and decided to do a 180. Ironic.

[–]Blarneystone2 -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Exactly like this sub.

[–]POSVT 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Ah, the "I know you are, but what am I?" defense, you really don't see trolling of this caliber anymore.

Still waiting on any semblance of a rational defense of your position btw.

[–]Blarneystone2 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Do you deny that this very sub has time and again made every single argument I just made against women?

[–]LucifersHammerr 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

One of the problems is that men don't want to leave their children at the mercy of abusive mothers. Since men will themselves be arrested if their report the abuse, they are forced to endure the violence. Sometimes they snap.

There is an easy solution: end the feminist Duluth model and recognize that women can and frequently are violent behind closed doors. Anyone supporting feminism is supporting mass child abuse, which ironically will produce more domestic violence -- including against women -- when the children grow up.

[–]furchfur 26 points27 points28 points 9 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Sweden is a male hating country or why would they introduce such a policy.

[–]nocivo 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nop. They just got lots of feminists in the government with the excuse of equality. Now see the results.

[–]DrunkenDropout -5 points-4 points-3 points 9 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Why do you think it's male hating?

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

If it's not then how could such a sexist policy become so easily enshrined in Universities?

[+]DrunkenDropout -7 points-6 points-5 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

But its for those who study to become doctors/nurses and lawyers who handle cases of domestic abuse. its mostly targeted towards mens violence against women because it tends to be more severe.

So not really sexist i think. About 7% of people in a relationship (borth male and female) in Sweden have been victims of domestic abuse. when it comes to women they have more of a tendancy to end up at the hospital and/or dying than men.

[–]NeverVoteAgain 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

But its for those who study to become doctors/nurses and lawyers who handle cases of domestic abuse. its mostly targeted towards mens violence against women because it tends to be more severe.

Really poor excuse. Really poor. "We don't have to protect girls because boys are hit more often in homes". That would never ever fly in Sweden, Feminist Sweden. But because it's men they are exluding, it's OK.

Besides I don't believe your figures unless you can prove that they are not from a Feminist source. If they are, it usually means they are worthless.

[–]DrunkenDropout -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

It would fly if there where any numbers that supports it. Those numbers do not exist right now as far as i know.

My source: https://www.bra.se/bra/brott-och-statistik/vald-i-nara-relationer.html

[–]NeverVoteAgain 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So your idea of a social policy is to find out what is the most hurt population (even when the broad classifications are by necessity more or less arbitrary and dismiss huge numbers of people who don't fit) and forget everybody else. Nice, are you working for the Swedish government?

And there is at least few studies indicating that boys are treated more violently. But - because boys aren't that important - there is no big body of evidence

And you didn't prove that the source was not Feminist. It probably is, being a governmental institution.

In Finland women have killed and caused severe trauma on men more than vice versa during some time periods. Women tend to use weapons., that's why. But guess if this kind of violence is seen as bigger problem than men slapping women.

[–]DrunkenDropout 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, not working for the swedish gouvernment. It's just an in depth course. They still learn about domestic violence in general. they dont exclude womens violence against men, they just dont have an in depth course about it.

Link me those studies and Ill read them after work tomorrow.

And you didnt prove it was. And even if it was that doesnt mean its distorted. And if i know the swedish gouvernment if they dont want statistics they dont publish them in the first place. they do not publish and distort because in my experience they get ripped apart when they do. What do you think feminism is?

But w're not talking about Finland, we're talking about Sweden. If you got any numbers to support this i would like to look at them. cant make an opinion without seeing your sources.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

they dont exclude womens violence against men, they just dont have an in depth course about it.

Well they should. Equality, right?

[–]Greg_W_Allan 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women should therefore be excluded from all efforts to help the homeless, suicides, unemployed, imprisoned etc.

"Those numbers do not exist right now as far as i know."

In other words we don't believe it happens so we never bothered to research it. Male victims are just such an inconvenience.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But its for those who study to become doctors/nurses and lawyers who handle cases of domestic abuse. its mostly targeted towards mens violence against women because it tends to be more severe.

How is that bringing about equality?

So not really sexist i think.

When you purposefully ignore a population of victims and survivors just to serve another, that's sexist.

About 7% of people in a relationship (borth male and female) in Sweden have been victims of domestic abuse.

Which includes men and women.

when it comes to women they have more of a tendancy to end up at the hospital and/or dying than men.

And men have a tendency to not report for fear of going to jail and disbelief thanks to the very sexist systems like this set in place.

By the way, I notice, like other contrarians, you add that women end up in hospital or dying.

Men suffer injuries as well. No, please don't also bring up "But women are smaller" when they have the element of surprise, weapons and the assurance they will be believed over the man they're abusing no matter what. Factor in the message "You never hit a girl" drilled into males since childhood and you have a population that deserves equal consideration and supports.

Additionally, there is violence by proxy. Aka, a woman can ask another man to do the dirty deed for her.

[–]duttenheim 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

People are free to write shit like "Hellre gröt än män" (translated: "rather porrigde than men") on the streets, and it's celebrated. Imagine a boy walking with his father and asking him what it says, to which he must reply "there are some people out there who think you are born wrong..." leaving out the "and they are in power" part because that is what he knows but the boy is too young to understand what it means.

We have a union founded mansplaining emergency call number (http://unionenopinion.se/mansplainingakuten/).

There are, or at least have been, several job applications where it straight up says that women will be chosen over men if they have the same qualifications. I've seen this in universities mostly.

Because we have quotas. Against men in the nice jobs, but not towards women in the less nice ones.

Because we have a leftist coalition ruling, the feminist party isn't even in the government, but the head of the ruling coalition, a social democrat who is widely despised for being a buffoon, is claiming Sweden is the first feminist country. Less than 4% voted for it, yet here we are.

Have you seen the anti-Trump image (https://www.svtstatic.se/image-cms/svtse/1486135304/svts/article12237014.svt/alternates/extralarge/lovintrump-jpg) taken with the one of the heads of the two-headed hydra that is the green party (MP), consisting only of women because THAT was the important bit. A person who literally took money for abroad medical support for people suffering from Malaria, HIV and TBC, and invested it to take in more migrant men, by the way. A true feminist.

Because even here, in equality 'heaven', sentences are more lenient towards women, despite the law being very equal indeed. Male circumcision is not endorsed by hospitals, but special clinics do perform it professionally, although the caretakers has to pay (healthcare in Sweden is heavily subsidized by taxes).

Because we actually had SheForHe (no really) which was about men's issues. Where men were told to handle their issues by talking about it over dinner. You know, how you cure all your problems? Because men they are always responsible for their own problems, as well as women's.

Because a man made a self-deprecating joke about men and their capacity to only focus on two things simultaneously if they are breasts, yet was totally rained on by the media, activists and other personalities for making a joke on the behest of a womanly body part.

Because we have self-serving feminist celebrities who influence huge swathes of the young population, and who utter vulgar contemptuous things like "Remove the mens day" (http://nyheter24.se/noje/791730-zara-larsson-ta-bort-mansdagen) and "All men should die a painful death" (https://nouwcdn.com/8/1100000/1070000/1069420/pics/201615126439470_sbig.png). This person is not the only one, but she is, like most of them, widely endorsed by the media.

Or what about the bracelets designed to demean men by telling them "You are a rapist, but now that you have this bracelet, you know rape is wrong and you won't do it!".

I have a hard time calling it man hating (perhaps it's the brainwash talking), but hatred of men is not denounced. Sometimes it's even appreciated and called attention too as something positive. And this constant nagging of anti-male sentiments has to result in something, be it boys growing up to hate themselves for being male, or them going the absolute opposite and becoming the embodiment of all the negative attributes they have been falsely given.

I can tell from personal experience that growing up in a feminist country like Sweden has made some serious damage to my masculinity. I am socially afraid of the repercussions of saying the wrong thing when a woman can hear, or even to look at women. Sexualisation is so out of the question people think I am gay. Come to think of it, it closely resembles being bullied.

[–]Griever114 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Can any Swedes confirm if this is just another slight against males? I have been hearing some pretty nasty shit going down. I wonder if you and Australia have the USA beat on anti-male legislation.

[–]DrunkenDropout 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Swede here. It's for people who's study to become doctors/nurses and lawyers. They need to know about domestic violence and how to handle people who's effected by domestic violence.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

They need to know about domestic violence

If that were the actual objective, the course would be about domestic violence, not "men's violence against women". And in case you think this is just the reporter's spin, here's the government's official page:

Kunskap om mäns våld mot kvinnor obligatoriskt i jurist- och läkarutbildningarna

http://www.regeringen.se/pressmeddelanden/2017/03/kunskap-om-mans-vald-mot-kvinnor-obligatoriskt-i-jurist--och-lakarutbildningarna/

[–]DrunkenDropout -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Domestic violence are pretty much the same: about 7% across the genders. The difference is that when men its men who's the agressor the victims are more likly to end up in the hospital than when its the women who's the agressor.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

None of that means the course should only teach or focus on men's violence against women. For one, male victims still exist and need medical attention; for another, the course is not just taught to medical students, so the argument is completely irrelevant in their case.

There's no way around this: exclusively teaching about "men's violence against women" is discriminatory and either born out of ingrained anti-male stereotypes or seeking to reinforce them; or both.

[–]DrunkenDropout 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Do you really belive that they do not mention anything about womens violence against men when the study at the university? Im just saying its more severe and may need an in depth course on the subject. That doesn't mean people who take the couse going to go out and only treat women and exclude men.

I know its lacking but its getting better, but male victims gets medical attention. why do you think all of them are getting turned down?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Do you really belive that they do not mention anything about womens violence against men when the study at the university?

Because so long as they pay lip service to the idea that yes, we should worry about male victims and female perpetrators too, it's fine if the mentality and the overall course structure reflect anti-male bias, right?

I know its lacking but its getting better, but male victims gets medical attention.

Yes, I'm sure men showing up in an emergency room with wounds do indeed get medical attention. Whether it would be smart for them to admit they got hurt in a phsyical confrontation with a woman is another matter; as is whether there are further services provided for them aside from medical attention, like shelters.

why do you think all of them are getting turned down?

Why do you ask loaded questions about things I never stated? why do you refuse to see the evident anti-male bias reflected in the government's own page about this initiative?

[–]DrunkenDropout 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When male victims arent included in this course doesnt mean that its anti-male. it just means they are not included.

Why wouldnt it be "smart for them to admit they got hurt in a phsyical confrontation with a woman"?

The shelters are lacking right now but the situation are getting better and more publicity.

As stated above, they are not included that doesnt mean they are anti-male.

[–]hunkertop -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are in a sub that hates women so much they upvote a white nationalist website... You think you are getting any truths in here?

[–]DawickDo -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

As u/DrunkenDropout said, this policy only applies to educations where domestic abuse is relevant. I'm not quite certain why some people believe Sweden is anti-male, as far as I know Sweden has relatively equal laws.

[–]slartitentacles 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sweden claims that they're a feminist government, that makes them anti-male by default.

Feminists flood all professional social services with feminist propaganda to implant the idea that men are inherently more violent than women (its actually the opposite). Those professionals then go about their jobs viewing domestic abuse cases with a lens that's tinted with feminist propaganda.

Its how the US got the Duluth Model, its how the Canadian judiciary became a feminist arm, its how Australia (VIC) made it compulsory for managers to fire male workers the instant a female worker accuses him of sexual misconduct without the need for any investigation, etc.

[–]DrunkenDropout 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dont know either, nobody has taken away my right. I dont feel opressed being a male in Sweden. of course there are bat shit crazy people who's trying to hate on males but such people exists in every country.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To create more equality, lets introduce a complusery course that singles out 1 group.
