You show me an electric that can make 400+ miles in a trip while carrying a family of four comfortably with 34+ cubic feet of storage at anywhere near the same price point and that doesn't come with the added expense of installing a home charging station...
Guess what... you can't do it. Current best range is the Tesla Model S if I'm not mistaken, with a range that tops out around 265, a starting price of $68,000, the added trouble and expense of needing a home charging station, and worse reliability. Overall, if you want a car that serves well as a daily commuter and can take the whole family on a weekend trip down the coast, the Prius V and A3 e-tron outshine an all electric by a long shot.
I'm familiar with the Chevy volt (we got one for my mother last year), it's not an electric... it's a plugin hybrid. Oh, and you're going to want that home charging station. I've been through the trouble and expense of installing one before, no thanks.
The Leaf? hardly. it's 84 mile range is useless for anyone that isn't a city dweller and has a longer commute, Of course you could spend extra to upgrade to 100 miles range... it also needs a home charging station.
