Any feminist that tries to block this tech will get the slapdown from the GLBT community, and women with fertility issues, so that's likely not to be a serious road block.

Honestly if a dude wants to go it alone with no mother and he has the money he can buy an egg and hire a surrogate mother, then the kids all his alone, so feminists gain literally nothing from opposing this.

I personally oppose any effort for people to make babies other than the "old fashion way", for a number of reasons. The main pitfalls I see in the field are designer babies, the possibility of losing diversity in the gene pool, and the potential for drastically unequal ratios of men to women. I mean take the U.S. population right now of 300M. Imagine a world where there are 55% men and 45% women (just for fun). That would mean there would be 30 million mathematically unable to find a mate. The 50/50 balance we have right now is really important to maintain.

Also, I find it fascinating (read fucking retarded) how much effort is going into reproductive science..as though the human population is having trouble reproducing...

I'm curious to hear why you think feminists would have an issue with this. I'm personally a feminist (specifically the type that believes in equal rights, equal going both ways). Personally, I think this is pretty cool. Men want to make babies without involving women? Neat, by all means, go for it. One of the long standing issues feminists talk about is the idea that a woman's place is to have children. If you boys just found a way to do it on your own, great. It only helps combat the stereotypes we've been fighting all along. All it does is level the playing field a little more for both men and women. The only issue I'm seeing at the moment is that the article states that a woman would still be needed to act as surrogate, which takes quite a bit more work than donating some dna as far as creating a baby goes. A child created this way would still have a 'mother', even if she didn't donate any dna herself. Let's work on figuring out a way for men to carry a child and give birth, and then you can leave us out of it completely, okay?
