Gender equality feminism existed for about a decade and only because up until then women in the movement were not asked to surrender anything. When they were asked to give up their dominion over parenting in the name of equality they refused. So much for feminism working on behalf of gender equality.

It's been more than forty years of feminism fighting against gender equality not this year or last year or a decade ago - almost half a century.

Growing up, I spoke angrily about the legality of rape within marriage (criminalized in 1990)

This was tossed in to the article as a brief side statement, but it's still something that needs comment because it comes up so often.

"Marital Rape" not being illegal is held by feminists as an example of "Patriarchy" and the fact that it wasn't outlawed in every state in the US until 1990-ish is further proof.

But it's misleading AND self refuting. Rape laws used to frequently include a "...and is not married to" clause that made it impossible to prosecute marital rape, but that does not mean "sexual assault" or just plain "assault" wasn't a marital offense, it was and WAS frequently prosecuted. We just needed to change the definition of "rape" so that offense could also be charged.

Now here's the zinger...FBI definitions of "rape" today preclude men from being "raped" by women...they can only be sexually assaulted. Remember where else we used to use that definition?

If "marital rape isn't illegal" is proof of patriarchy, what does the fact that men can't be raped by ANY woman prove?

Recently, in a disagreement with an intersectional feminist man, he began to change his mind! Much encouraged, I continued the discussion. After some time, I checked his bio and spotted that he was carrying on a parallel conversation with another man in which he was expressing exactly the same views he had since changed in our conversation. Challenging him on this, I was informed that he did not feel he should disrespect my lived experience as a woman by contradicting it with his own views as a man.
