The issue with trumps video isn't that he said those words, it was that he said he was going to grope that woman at her job then did and so did Billy Bush.

Their actions in context with their words are the problem.

It is not that it is especially lewd, although it is. It is not that it is violent and awful and wrong, although it is. It is the fact that it is, within certain circles, still quite normal.

That circle for women currently encompasses all of them. Trump is getting blasted - rightly or wrongly - for objectifying women in a private conversation. Women can do it to men publicly and it's perfectly ok.

One of my housemates was watching The Real Housewives of Auckland recently and I caught this scene. I was gobsmacked. Flip the genders and the internet would currently be awash with outrage.

It starts a few minutes into episode 7 for anyone who wants to watch it.

i believe "kissed them without their consent" is how cooper put it in the debate. don't think about that sentence for too long or blood will shoot out of your eyes. he might as well have said "look, we all know men are supposed to ask permission before initiating any physical contact with women"

The faux outrage over this was like some sort of alternative universe...

In that conversation, Trump was boastful (and probably lying as he always does), whereas Bush was a desperate horn-dog.

In further contrast, the future First Lady got blowjobs in the Oval Office, and wasted a year of the country's time on his impeachment.

Yet the left defended Bill Clinton, and want him back.

Lastly, you can see this SAME kind of talk on any women's daytime talk show, and yet nobody objects to that.

I gotta tell ya, I am so looking forward to the 2020s and 2030s, when things that were perfectly acceptable to say today (particularly among the smug left) have become radioactive and career-ending then. We have so many devices now. It's going to be glorious!
