I feel like it is something we can measure. Who's in the leadership positions? Who is talking control? Regardless of the subject or gender that the men choose to benefit, isn't it still them making the decisions?

Listen. I understand why you're arguing with me over this, and that's your right. I'm probably not really prepared to argue with armchair philosophers that have spent years on this sub.

My reason for posting here at all was simply to point out that the OP's post was utter garbage, and shouldn't be on this sub. Why? Simple. It doesn't affect men's rights. Google and other companies are allowed to choose who they wish to support, and beyond that, nobody here has yet pointed out what the Global Citizen Festival was even doing. Google could have specifically highlighted the women and girl's support factor- impoverished child soldier boys could have been the forfront, but none of you in this sub are interested in finding those facts. You're much more content to argue with people that you suspect might not have your exact same moral principles or ideology.

Yeah, clearly my feeble attempts at addressing all of the side arguments that have been brought up are distracting for you poor kids.

Let me make this clear: This sub is usually fantastic, and I love to see the subtle and sometimes blatant issues we face given attention. But OP's post demonstrates an overwhelming misinterpretation of what "Men's rights" are. OP's post has no business in this sub. Google, and any other company, has a right to support and advocate for whatever groups they want to.

You can be pissed about it, feel slighted, but that doesn't change the fact that it's not a men's rights issue. Our rights are just fine regardless of the name that a Global issues festival decides to give itself, or what it decides to FOCUS ON for its festival.

Not only that, but you guys don't even know what issues the festival includes. It could have a significant portion dedicated to men's issues, or even be primarily focused on men's issues, with Google choosing to highlight women's because it's popular for them.

But you guys are so content being triggered by each other into such a blinded state, that you don't want to see how little information you're basing your enraged state on.

Alright, so I'm well aware that men have some pretty extreme shit that we have to deal with, including a lot of systematic nonsense, but education is a liiiiitle bit different.

You see, while it might be true that men are only enrolled in education 10% more than women, I don't think I've ever heard of men being lawfully forbidden to receive an education.

You're overthinking the fuck out of this Google ad, and for a festival that you seem to have no idea about and wouldn't have joined anyway.

People are allowed to have or support things that are geared towards making life in general better for women.

It only becomes a men's rights issue once it starts breaching men's human rights.

Edit: Please note that while females tend to apparently scream for education across the globe and almost exclusively in places where their educations are forbidden, boys usually aren't forbidden from going to school. They just don't want to, have environmental and geologic obstructions, have parents that force them to do something else, are too poor, or are involved in extreme shit like being trained as soldiers or gangsters at age 12.

Girls deal with [insert things here] but it's usually irrelevant because it's fucking illegal to be educated.

At least that's my understanding. I'm all for women's education. Should lead to a lot less of the Feminist extremism polluting the fight for equal rights.

The figure is more like 7% or so. If you remove the handful of countries where women are expressly forbidden from education then the percentage in the rest obviously drops further. Whatever the percentage may be, < 7% is not an extreme issue.

I strongly reject your evidence devoid point that "boys don't want to" go to school in any greater number than girls or that girls have different environmental or geological obstructions. Pure drivel, pure boy blaming and girl sanctifying.

I'm all for focused targeting of countries where girls are not allowed an education. This blanket approach reeks of sexism though. In the majority of countries without extremist soundbites to quote, why don't we use the feminist argument that this isn't a gendered issue and that by targeting all kids the girls will be lifted in the process? Or target all kids, but with a focus on girls until a balance has been reached (something feminists do not apparently consider with issues like suicide for example).

As for male rights issues only being de facto breaches of human rights, you have to be incredibly short-sighted to believe that. By this reasoning freezing all funding for male issues and funneling all future money into women and girls' issues would be okay and nothing to do with male rights either.

And ask yourself how you'd feel as a boy in one of the vast majority of countries where it's perfectly legal for boys an girls to study and there is perhaps a tiny percentage difference in enrollment when all the money, literature, workers and opportunities come flooding in for everybody but you. It's kind of sick and no amount of extreme examples can change that reality of the ignored boy in poverty with a disinterested world ignoring him as usual.
