No. A lot of mras actually liked it because it was an accurate display of male diposability.

At the same time feminists liked it because it had a prominent female lead.

So feminists like it and mras like it then that must mean.....feminists arent mature enough to acknowledge common ground for once so they went the victim route and started spreading the lie that mras hated the movie because of the female lead.

The so-called MRA "Boycott" of Mad Max: Fury Road was based on an article run by the website Return of Kings that essentially argued because the film had hired a "feminist consultant" the movie should be boycotted.

Many anti-MRA commentators jumped on this, tried to use it to slander the MRA movement. The only issues with this were: (1) Return of Kings isn't an MRA site. (2) No other MRA sites or personalities joined the bandwagon. If anything, MRAs thought this call for a boycott was stupid.

I am not a big fan of the MRM. I think it's become and increasingly intellectually dishonest movement that is more interested in complaining about feminism than doing anything productive. But I'll come to it's defense when warranted - and the Mad Max "Boycott" was a shameless hatchet job with no basis in reality.

Mad Max isn't my kind of movie. It's loaded with political commentary that's just off base and lots of cars going really fast and exploding.

Some how "I don't care for the not so subtle sexist commentary or the exploding cars" got translated into "I'm organizing a boycott of the movie"

It's from a site called return of kings, they aren't MRA's. Don't take my word for it, they publish anti MRA articles all the time. The media for some reason insists on conflating them with us, they even once tried to call Elliot Rodger an MRA without proof.

I thought it was a decent reboot, although I felt it didn't have enough Max in it. I like the aesthetic though, I hope to see more movies set there (preferably with a bit more Max as protagonist, as opposed to Max as "guy who is in a place when things happen".)

I watched it. I love the Mad Max universe and really like the storyworld of this film.

I liked it, but wouldn't re-watch it. The action sequences are well done, but not innovating really. I'd much rather have seen more of Immortam Joe's citadel and character interactions other than killing.

original mad max is on my all time top ten films, saw it in theatre. that being said, Fury Road sucked balls. i've never understood the furor from anyone over the "feminist" view of this film. where were these same people when the third Mad Max film came out? Tina Turner was the queen of the wasteland, the strongest female character possible. there were no cries of misandrist/feminist veiwpoints then, not single one. the answer: obvious.....combination of internet, and too many people with too much time on their hands. nuff said.

Nope. I mean the plot was a bit thin but this isn't a movie about the plot. The plot is an basically the punctuation of a two hour chase scene and it's epic. Yes there is an honest to god patriarchal dictator, so what? It works in the context. The only thing that even comes close to sending a "feminist message" is the "who killed the world" thing which -Spoilers- falls collosally flat considering how well they did. There's a lot going on under the surface here and if you go looking for more meaningful than "crazy action" you got to look at it all the way and see what they say not just with the female protagonists, but the male protagonists too.

All in all a good movie. If you're into insane action romps, of which this is one of the best.

The new economic model for SJWism is exemplified by the way Dr. George Miller paid Eve Ensler, the feminist heroine whose “Vagina Monologues” made America more Vagina Conscious (although I was under the impression that Larry Flynt’s Stakhanovite labors in the 1970s had already achieved much of that noble goal), to declare that Mad Max: Fury Road wasn’t an ultra-macho comic book fantasy about a bunch of Australian bogans hooning down the highway, as it would appear to those unfamiliar with its PR campaign, but was actually a feminist work of art that subverts the male gaze etc. etc.

This misdirection worked fine for Miller (a former Emergency Room doctor, and nothing is more likely to make you doubt the SJW worldview than working in an ER), getting his movie 98% critics’ thumbs-up on Rotten Tomatoes. And it helped Miller completely sidestep (Look, a feminist squirrel!) any inconvenient questions he might otherwise have had to face about his formative influence upon Mel Gibson and Mel’s later movies such as The Passion of the Christ.

At Uncouth Reflections, Sax von Stroheim notes:

But I don’t think Courrier goes far enough in pointing out the biggest marketing con job of them all: that the people selling this [Mad Max] movie got a bunch of college graduates to write about its “feminist” message. Courrier notes that the movie’s feminism doesn’t have any “dramatic consequence”, but, I would argue, the film’s feminism isn’t merely superficial: it’s non-existent. Rather than a feminist message, the film aggressively expresses a sexist perspective of the world. That is: throughout Mad Max: Fury Road, Dr. George Miller keeps us very aware that there are biological differences between men and women, and the entire story points towards these being meaningful differences; that it’s the biological differences between men and women that shape society and not the other way around, where men and women’s role are shaped primarily by society. From the very beginning Miller shows us a world where the women exist for milk and breeding and the men exist for war and bleeding. The plot is driven by bride-stealing (just like the Iliad‘s) and at no point does the movie undercut the idea that women’s primary power, and primary value, comes from their ability to give birth.

Also, there’s a very blatant attack on the idea of a matriarchal society. When Our Heroes finally reach what they hoped would be a paradise ruled by wise old women instead of gross mean men, they find only a handful of the wise old women struggling to survive. And instead of going off to found some new community of their own, they decide to turn around and go back to try to take over the only viable society in this world: one that had been built and maintained (albeit in a nightmarish form) by men. The movie’s thesis might be: a society run by men might be horrible, but a society run by women would lead to the end of the human race.

MRAs and and normal people shouldn't like it because the bad guys are an analogy for the feminist view of patriarchy and also female superiority- men trying to control women's bodies and reproduction and then the enlightened women escaping their evil clutches.
