So, I had a weeklong flung with a girl back in 2011. I was home from college on winter break and we hooked up at a party. All three times we used a condom, but a couple months later she claims she's pregnant. I didn't trust her and highly doubted it was mine, so I demanded a blood test. She then backs off and I end all communication with her. Unknowingly to me, she put my name as the birth father.

Fast forward to mid 2013, I graduate college and am now stationed on the east coast for military training. I get pulled from the field, served a subpoena, and ordered to go to court to establish paternity. They set a court date, but the day of, it gets cancelled because she withdrew her case. I go back to training, life goes back to normal.

In 2015, I again get served with papers demanding I attend court to establish paternity, this time initiated by the fact that she's receiving government assistance. Finally, I take the test and the results state that, of course, I'm not the biological dad.

My question is, can I sue the mother for all the inconvenience suffered during the process? As well as the emotional stress, it has affected my job in the military (I'm in a hyper-competitive school). Also, I have proof of her accusing me of being a deadbeat on social networks. I'm interested if anyone has heard of a woman being held accountable in a civil court for something like this.

I honestly just want compensation for the headaches this caused. Slander, deformation of character, and emotional distress.

TL;DR: Crazy chick named me the father, want to know if I can sue her for all the stress it caused.

Edit #1: this is the first chance I've gotten to reply, just wanted to thank you for all the advice. I understand that most folks aren't lawyers, but I wanted some neutral advice since I'm still pretty pissed at the situation.

The court cases were in Virginia, so I'd be looking at Virginia law if I were to pursue anything.
