Really hate things like this because of course she wasn’t listened to. Of course he got a slap on the wrist. Of course there’s some hand-wringing about how the system failed and how we need to do better yadda yadda. But nothing ever really changes and she’s still dead.

Laws without teeth are not laws. Anything that is barely prosecuted or not prosecuted at all is effectively legal despite the fancy writing. So, in a lot of cases, r--e, spousal h---cide, and violence against women is basically legal. What has been made illegal though is carrying pepper spray, carrying self defense implements, or using physical self defense techniques 🤡.

I was crying reading this. So much suffering that women have to put up with. So many children who are motherless, left unprotected and traumatized. It’s heartbreaking.

Women need to get serious about turning the tables. Yes, vetting is all very well and good, but the truth of the matter is sometimes I’m either going to find themselves in a horrible situation and as we all know it’s not enough to leave. That’s the most dangerous time statistically for women, when they first get away from the abu.ser. The law is definitely stacked against us on purpose to make us afraid to defend ourselves. Women get a longer and harsher sentences for defending themselves against abu.sers than men do for kil.lingtheir spouses in cold blood, it’s a proven fact. But we can’t be sitting ducks. The system isn’t going to protect us because all men benefit from the actions of violent men. And it’s not going to allow us to defend ourselves because then we won’t be afraid of men anymore and they need us to be. Women have got to step it up and pool our resources and stop allowing our sisters to be punished for saving their own lives because nobody else is going to do it.
