some schools are creating volunteer squads of girls to police sexist attitudes and report back to teachers.

and the obvious, inevitable result will be boys ostracizing girls from any kind of friendly discussions or activities. Or do they really expect the New Nazis to be welcomed with open arms?

Trying to fight sexism with sexism. What could possibly go wrong?

[–]pnw_diver 16 points17 points18 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

According to that article, little girls will be organized by the teachers to police little boys. I cant think of a more utterly sexist regime, it places the girls as superior to boys.

The administrators and teachers who thought this monstrosity up should be fired. They are crazed radicals with an agenda and they should certainly be kept away from littlw boys.

Disregarding the absurdity for a second, I can't help but have this odd feeling about it all...

It's almost like one particular, thought to be objectively better group of the population and policing another, making sure they don't say things or believe things their 'betters' don't agree with. Didn't we call this Nazism?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ok, while im not ok with what they're doing, i would be pissed if I had any of the things on this list said to me. I hate that stupid male emasculation bullshit. and calling a woman a lesbian or calling a man gay as a put down also isn't really ok, although if we are talking about anywhere in school years, I'm sure it would be Dyke or Fag, which is pretty easily seen as offensive whether or not you are actually homosexual.

Again, I don't agree with them having this bullshit hit squad, but this kind of language really shouldn't be said and if my child said it, I would bitch them the fuck out.

These guidelines come from a report by the Institute of Physics.

Why does the opinion of a Physics institute matter on issues of social development and childcare?

[–]aMensView 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So all those over-baked feminist arguments are working. This is proper heavy-handed social engineering.

In response, some schools are creating volunteer squads of girls to police sexist attitudes and report back to teachers.

Now there's a really great idea. /s

This is the stupidest shit I've ever read in my entire life, I actually think I lost brain cells from reading it. These people need to man the hell up!

[–]Lethn 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This isn't about a question of manning up, it's a question on free speech and freedom of expression, both of which are things that England seems to be eager to throw away for the sake of feeling good about themselves at the expense of everybody else.

I'm going to be leaving this shitty country as soon as I can and I won't miss it, they clearly don't want people like me here anyway.

[–]dylanfurr246 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Are you a native Brit or did you relocate? I just ask because I know quite a few Brits who left/are leaving GB.

[–]Lethn 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Native, I hate my country pecisely because of shit like this though lol, there's very little reason for me to stay here anymore and it's also far too expensive.

For the price of a basic flat in a relatively low populated town here you can get a fully detached house elsewhere in the world if you know where to look, it's a fucking joke. I try to stay calm about the UK but this kind of stuff drives me mad :P

I'm not surprised to hear others are going as well really, this country is a post-victorian chav filled shit hole.

[–]SickleSandwich 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Amen to that.

[–]you_cant_banme[🍰] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Telling someone to "man up" is sexist language, implying that to be a man is a higher state than being a woman.
You've just been reported to the thought police and will be sent to Intolerance Camp.

[–]Daredevilpwn 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As others have said. Boys are not going to want anything to do with girls after this takes off.

[–]TheDude41 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Brainwashing. It starts early. Nazis used to get ordinary people to report on their neighbors also.

"Hey, people get upset when we say these words/phrases and it's hilarious, lets keep doing it!"

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Teaching children how to speak to each other is a good thing. Without it they says the crap they hear on tv.

[–]BagelBenny 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreeable sentiment however I draw the line at placing other children in positions that allow them to easily abuse powers to get their own way. Teachers are with in their rights to correct students. Other should never be placed in a position that elevates them. Children can be cruel and little girls especially so, this can only result in more division in a academic environment because who the hell would want to hang out with people that can get you in trouble at will.

[–]crazybmanp -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The actual words banned seem pretty reasonable. I mean, i'm not sure if cupcake needs to be banned, but why should kids be calling each other sissies?
