One problem: The instant a boys' class shows better results than girls', feminists will demand girls be let it. Of course, they'll gladly let a class stay all boys if they're doing terribly.

Absolutely not. The problem of boys' lack of educational achievement has more to do with societal factors that discourage them from focusing on their studies, and the fact that the overwhelming majority of teachers are female, than it does with boys and girls sharing classes. Segregation rarely leads to progress.

Possibly, but there are a number of issues with this.

When I was in high school, I was in a good number of honors and AP classes. Here's the thing - they were very biased by gender. My AP Physics and Calculus courses had way more boys, and my AP Literature and Language courses had way more girls. My school certainly didn't have the resources to run two of each of these classes, so how would they work this model? Would I not have been able to take AP Literature because I'm a boy, and girls wouldn't be able to take AP Calc? Clearly that's not okay.

Of course you could just say "AP courses can be co-ed" because they're assumed not to need the help anyway, but even still, this is just one example. There are a lot of problems to this idea.

What I was trying to point out is that, if everything must be segregated by gender, you might not be able to afford spending resources in things that aren't quite as popular, because you'd need 2 of them even if there isn't enough demand for two.

Another, perhaps more serious concern is shoehorning people into gender roles. I'm assuming you're suggesting this out of the idea that the boys courses could then be tailored towards a boy-style of learning, and the girls for girls. But this is a huge generalization. I would have hated having to move around while learning, or playing sports, or fighting, or anything like that, but I'm a boy. Putting me in an all-boys class that emphasized that would have ruined my education. Conversely, there are girls that need the "boy" style of learning. Why not just try to emphasize both styles of learning in a single classroom and let each student individually learn however they do best?

No. As soon as you divide people by who they appear to be, you get into trouble.

First, there aren't just two genders. Newton was wrong about physics. And the two-gender idea of biology is similarly provably wrong. The difference is, when you're wrong about people, they get hurt. In this case, you get a minority of people who aren't going to fit neatly into either gender, or who will fit in but not with the gender you expect, or who will fit in some times with the boys and other times with the girls.

You're trying to use gender as a shortcut to some other ability or characteristic. Focus on that instead.

It would almost be best if there were separate schools for boys and girls possibly through college. The purpose here would be to allow each gender the best environment to prepare for college, then to allow college men in an environment this isn't completely hostile to them from a political and administrative viewpoint.

I'm generally against gender segregation especially in school which is a place where we learn not only knowledge but also how to socialize with other people. Part of this is learning how to work together with people of other genders because once you are out in the "real world" that is going to be required of you.

I would like to have, maybe not entire classes but singular lectures here and there to be gender segregated though. This is to give students the experience and learn the difference. Perhaps this could even be discussed and the students could get to list the pros and cons of each, then work together to see what can be done to reduce the cons.
