Marriage, the shackle you'll never be free from.

[–]aa47[S] 23 points24 points25 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The thing that bothers me is that she was a complete failure as a mother and spouse, but still feels entitled to his innovation/hardwork even while he was financially supporting their child as well as her children from other marriages.

However, the courts will be looking at both sides of the story and Wyatt's side of the story is that Vince was abusive and left her destitute while he went out and grew his business.

What the hell?! He didn't even start the business until after they divorced an the psycho bitch stole his child.

[–]aa47[S] 18 points19 points20 points 11 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

But look how well off he is?? He can spare some money. Don't you want her to be able to eat and live comfortably?? What kind of an animal are you to expect her to just do it all on her own after she gave birth to his child????!!1?! /s

I hope you're not serious.

"He started giving Wyatt and the kids–by then she'd had two more kids by another man–$150 a week to help out. He bought Dane's clothes and got him and his siblings computers. He bought Wyatt washing machines, cars, and other things to help her out."

For how many decades must a man help a woman "get back on her feet"?

I hope you're not serious.

the /s is for sarcasm/sarcastic

[–]binrobinro 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sorry, I completely missed that, after the 5 question marks and all.

[+]shinarit -9 points-8 points-7 points 11 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

/s is for retards. Humans recognize sarcasm. Don't use it.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Nope

Its damn hard to work out what a stranger on the internet means when 60% of what they're saying (vocal tone/pitch, body language etc) doesn't translate to text.

Poe's law:

Poe's law, named after its author Nathan Poe, is a literary adage which stipulates that, without a clear indicator of an author's intention, it is often impossible to tell the difference between an expression of sincere extremism and a parody of such extremism. Someone will likely mistake the parody for a genuine article, or vice-versa.

(vocal tone/pitch, body language etc) doesn't translate to text.

I would assume that people realized this a while ago and they communicate with different words and phrases in writing and in live speech. Like, centuries ago. Or you speak as you would write a book?

Like using /s?

[–]shinarit -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That came to life like a year ago. People talk on the internet since much longer. But as more average or less than average people join the communication, they need crutches to navigate, I understand.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Maybe if below average people looked at history a little bit before joining the conversation and pontificating on whats 'for retards' they wouldn't show themselves up as much.

It might be a different sign, but most people don't have a reverse question mark easily available to them on their keyboards. So they improvise!

[–]bluescape 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't use it, but the OP did so I pointed out that it was there and what it stood for. And while humans do generally recognize sarcasm, text doesn't translate tone (or any non verbal type of cues) and depending on the context, an extra indicator may be necessary to avoid confusion.

[–]BruceCampbell123 20 points21 points22 points 11 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

I thought Womyn don't need no man to take care of them?

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Of course they don't - all they need is the state to force servitude on men

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

patriarchy hurts men too, shitlord

[–]-er 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They don't need it, but they deserve it because of patriarchy or some shit like that.

[–]rottingchrist 13 points14 points15 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Toxic feminity. Entitlement to money earned by men.

[–]Captaincastle 14 points15 points16 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

[–]aa47[S] 16 points17 points18 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Women like her scare the shit out of me. Like 20 years later she is still going after him...

[–]CORNDOGCOMMANDO 14 points15 points16 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I remember a story about a couple that divorced on good terms and a decade later she was unemployed, the judge gave her alimony so the guy had to come out of retirement to pay alimony.

That I guess was a warning of what was to come apparently, I still can't believe even after divorce that she initiated she can come after him decades later. I don't think I'm in a coma and the tv is playing some drama days of our lives reruns that scraping in to my dreams. These court cases are so insane it's hard to believe they made it to court.

Pre-edit I hope my formatting is ok my screen is pretty small so kind of hard to make out my spacing.

[–]aa47[S] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Formatting looks good to me :)

The overall concept of these lawsuits are astounding. I'm not planning on getting married and if I date someone I will be breaking up with them before it becomes a state viewed marriage. Or at the least a pre nup :)

[–]CORNDOGCOMMANDO 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i wouldn't trust pre-nups, i've seen them thrown out.

I feel the same way. Its sad, but based on the simple actions of my friends ex's, my ex's and stories like these, I am not looking to get married. Its amazing what our society has accepted and the legal precedence that has been established by activist judges.

[–]ICantReadThis 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

and Wyatt's side of the story is that Vince was abusive and left her destitute while he went out and grew his business

Sure, fair enough. Let's see if Dale has any listed abusive events between him and his loved ones in the past two decades.

Let's also take a look at whose children have made life choices that typically stem from long-term abuse.

Wyatt's oldest child, 36-year-old Emily, is a drug addict, prostitute, and convicted burglar currently serving time in prison.

Huh. Fancy that.

[–]jokersmild 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is a perfect example of CIS white male privilege.

[–]TheRedThrowAwayPill 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Annnnd .... sharia compliant divorce courts grow by side effect!

In all seriousness, this thing is probably going to get scuttled because it will cause the institution of marriage in the UK to collapse that much faster.

[–]haberstachery 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She wears dentures.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seriously, don't be that shallow. I'm 46 and I have to use them too. Lost my teeth and some of my jaw to a cancer fight. It had zero to do with dental hygiene (or smoking).
