Vanderbilt and Stanford did, yes. SUU also got a lot of coverage when it was originally reported that the rapist would be allowed to serve his jail sentence on the weekend. There's also understandably a lot of outrage about how a rapist can confess to the police, but then be sentenced to 180 days in jail. I guess the privilege normally reserved for female teachers also applies to athletes.

As I said, those are just from the most recent months. I would have to go back 9 years to list all of the high profile campus rape cases since Duke Lacross.

You do bring up an interesting point though. It is true that most real victims of rape don't go running to the papers to make a spectacle of the ordeal. They usually want to keep their head down and get through this as quietly as possible. National coverage very, very rarely helps in any way, it's usually harmful actually, except in rare cases such as Steubenville and Darren Sharper.

Coulter is a lying asshole.

Edit: She objectively is. She regularly quotes things out of context knowingly or just completely fabricates information for the sake of an already weak argument. She's a pathological liar of the worst type and she is completely worthless to any reasonable discussion on any topic regardless of which side of the political spectrum you fall on. She has no credibility whatsoever and for good reason, she has pissed it all away by saying insane, provably false nonsense.

The worst part is that she's too smart for this to be accidental or a result of ignorance on her part. When she lies, she knows she's lying. When she makes an absurd, hyperbolic claim, she's knows it's absurd. She's done this to sell books and get paid guest spots and lecture audiences. It's been lucrative, but she's a charlatan.

I'm about as left wing as you can get, but that's a load of horse shit. The U.S is so politically fucked it's absurd to say the left is only wrong on this one issue. They're not as harmful as the right in a lot of ways. They're not trying to stop poor people from voting or criminalize abortion in round about and unjust ways. But they have no problem allowing billions of dollars of corporate money to guide their vote, drilling in national parks, propping up business interests at the expense of everyone. The list goes on.

Personally I generally think the left in the U.S is the lesser of two evils if you're talking about basic rights and fairness, but they're only slightly less awful than the other side. This is the problem with only having two horses in the race for the better part of a century. Everything becomes so polarized it's hard to see that neither pole is all that wonderful.

True everybody IN this sub has seen and heard this a million times, no argument there but. . .We are pretty small and dn't have the audience she does. Yes she is fucking nuts but last I checked using reason hasn't helped one damn bit.

She is no different than a crazy feminist but last I checked the feminists were winning the campus. Sure UVA and 2014 was a major setback for feminism but its already been forgotten and it is still dangerous to question feminism even if you are actually asked to like what happened in Calgary.

Yes, we should ignore her. She doesn't need our help anyway but we shouldn't in peed her either, she does have a large following and even though we may not be it she does have a way of getting attention paid to things in ways we cannot.

People have short attention spans for the truth and even shorter for bullshit. If she is actually on point here people will remember it and forget about the other bullshit and I cant see a drawback to that.

All we have to do is stand out of her way and just make sure we are in the lear if she goes crashing out of control.

Honestly, as another commenter put it, there are other people out there with a platform making the same points much more eloquently and have at least a shred of credibility. To add to that, I don't want Coulter's followers on my side. I want nothing to do with anyone that spends their hard earned money on 300 pages of her nonsense writing. I almost certainly disagree with them on just about every issue under the sun, as would anyone that wasn't drooling out of the side of their mouth and screaming at kids from their porch. I don't see how bringing a bunch of angry, reactionary nuts into the fold could possibly help anything.

I think the "an enemy of an enemy is a friend" argument which is in essence the one you're making here is incredibly flawed in practice and has almost never been the best option long term.
