Hmm … I know this is click-bait, and yet ...

You receive carefully chosen baby gifts that celebrate your son's gender. Everyone's favorite item is a tiny white onesie with powder blue lettering that says Future Trophy Husband.

Strange. Lori Day is clearly an educated middle class professional so the chances that any of her friends would present her with such a gift are almost certainly zero.

So what Day is really denigrating here is not an every day episode of sexism, but the lifestyles, the wry, tongue-in-cheek humour and cultural preferences of working class people - probably white working class people at that.

You think for a fleeting moment that this is a bit odd, even inappropriate, but all of your friends think it's super cute.

As noted, Day's own friends are likely other educated middle class professionals, so this is not going to happen to her ever. If it does happen - get some new fucking friends; problem goes away.

He'd like to apply to engineering schools and he might, even though he knows it's a woman's world and ~~that he'll have to perform twice as well to be perceived as half as good~~. and so he applies for one of the thousands of government and industry scholarships aimed specifically at encouraging him to go to these engineering schools because no matter what they do, boys just don't seem to give a fuck about engineering ever. He doesn't work harder, in fact little Logan even gets lower grades than normally expected but so desperate are the engineering schools for gender diversity, they let him in anyway. With a scholarship.

He'll face a lot of sexism and sexual harassment in the workplace.

Of course, he will.

He'll get paid less than the women, who everyone knows are innately better at science.

These all just assume that boys have it so great. They don't have the "if our daughters were treated like our sons", where the daughter gets bullied and beat up but won't tell anyone out of fear of looking weak, where the daughter starts to feel self-conscious but gets told that her body image doesn't matter because she's not a boy, and then where the daughter gets shipped off to war and killed after graduating high school and is dead by 18 while the boy is feeling sorry for himself because he's expected to look attractive.

They'd be made to understand that their needs would be largely provided for even into old age. They'd be encouraged to enslave females into becoming providers and protectors even if it's against the female's own will. They'd value females for their utility. They'd learn not to become self-sacrificing. They'd learn that acting infantile will get them special treatment and not disciplined. They'd learn that they don't have to take responsibility for any of their actions because they will not be held accountable for what they do, such as, putting cute shoes on their own child.
