Good news I would say, since it shows that the feminists believe they can no longer exclude MRAs from the conversation about gender. They figure if the cannot silence men then they will try to laugh at them instead and see if that works.

Bad news for feminists since for the last few decades silencing men has been their first and last option.

When the powerful try to make jokes about the weak it usually doesn't work, and can easily backfire.

Ive seen the episode and what OP doesnt also mention is they feminists are equally mocked.

On the bright side, it means the movement is perceived in our culture. I don't think we could score a TV episode about us if we tried. So, thanks for the free publicity, feminists!

Okay, yeah it was a horrible hatchet job. But that Rosie the Riveter sign that said, "THEY, can do it!" was HILARIOUS!

It was a funny episode, and it helped to raise awareness of the fact that men's rights is even a thing that exists. I had no problem with it.

It treated MRAs and feminists the same way - mocking the "always offended" status of some of its members. The storyline is that a politician's wife refused to participate in a traditional pie-baking contest, got bad press for it and then chose to go along with it... at which point feminists showed up to protest her for reinforcing stereotypes of women. The couple realized they could solve the problem and satisfy both the media and the feminists if he were the one to make the pie... but then MRAs showed up to protest having a man in the kitchen, showing that there's just no way for them to win with some people.

Anything that raises awareness of the MRM and gets just a few more people curious to learn about it, I'm fine with it as long as it's not some horrible Lena Dunham style "hurr durr I'm an MRA, I'm going to ban abortion, now get in the kitchen and make me a sandwich you silly women".

Do you think the show was poking fun at the issue or making a statement about how MRM isn't taken seriously?

I watch the show relatively religiously on Netflix and generally feel like their topics have a relevance to real life events. Since the new episodes aren't on Netflix, I can't take a look for myself.

I saw a transcript of that episode. here's what the main character says to the men's rights group:

I'm now going to give you permanent answers to all the silly questions that you're going to end up asking me and every other woman in this election in the next few months. Why did I change my hairstyle? I don't know. I just thought it would look better, or my kids got gum in it. Are you trying to have it all? That question makes no sense, it's a stupid question, stop asking it, don't ask it. Do you miss your kids while you're at work? Of course I do! Everybody does. And then, you know, sometimes I don't.

Wow, people ask her about her hair?!? Gosh that's awful! No wonder women are so oppressed and men's rights is nothing!
