That's unfortunate. You know, there are very few cases where I'd support the kidnapping of a child by one parent, but if I were Heather Hironimus right now I would be considering it.

Imagine being in that situation. The other parent of your four year old child has clearly stated their plans to perform permanent body modification on your child's genitalia. Would you dare to leave your child in that person's custody?

The gender discrimination is just disgusting. Imagine going to court and stating that you need custody of your daughter so you can perform FGM on her, and the court approves of this. It's unthinkable. If you even mention the idea of performing FGM on your daughter around a legal official you'd be at risk of losing custody of your child.

The Supreme Court is there to answer legal questions. In this case, was there a substantial, material and unanticipated change since the original parenting plan was signed. The answer is clear, the parenting plan addressed circumcision specifically. The Supreme Court isn't going to address circumcision because it wasn't asked to do so. The provision could have said blood tests, extracurricular activities, etc. The Supreme Court's answer would have been the same. The mother signed an agreement in full faith, she screwed up and she has to live with that.
