If you can help a person in distress you should help them and if you can't help them then try to get someone that will. A dead cell phone? Any business and most people in the area will call the police for you if you ask them.

Many years ago I got involved in the middle of fight where a man was physically abusing a woman in the middle of the street. Both were drunk and he was pretty violent. He punched her a couple of times in the face and grabbed her by the hair like a rag doll. I stepped in to calm him down but instead he attacked me. Being a Taekwondo black belt holder I was able to give him a taste of what his girlfriend or wife was enduring. But to my surprise, while I had him on the floor she started hitting me with her high-heel shoes on the back of my neck like a crazy person. Astonished I simply could just not comprehend what was actually happening so I just got the hell out of there. I´m not implying that all or most women would do such a thing but that´s just crazy!

I have long suspected that people so keen to be seen as "progressive" and "Modern" actually lack the stones to do anything about anything when it really matters and its do or die.

I actually was unfortunate enough to witness (heard to begin with) first hand a horrible case of domestic violence in a hotel room, i intervened without even thinking about it, and rescued her and "neutralised him" (she was totally innocent he was a shit).

he was arrested, hotel and police thanked me blah blah blah.

but its just who you are, at no point did i rationally think about it or do a "what is my risk" i heard someone in real trouble being abused and went into "i have to stop this" mode.

but maybe its because i am a boxer/thai boxer it was less of a big deal, but i would like to think most would do the same.

innocent people being hurt is not a gender issue, i would intervene regardless of the gender (almost intervened in group of girls versus a girl the other day).

I hate bullies and abusers no matter who they are, and would do exactly the same every time, most of the whiny "progressive types" claim the same but when it really comes down to it, have they? and would they really?

Edit: downvote away, it really makes a statement of this subreddit and its population, don't be shy, i find it hilarious you disapprove.
