I'm not pro-street harassment, and the guy in the story crossed the line. He wasn't just looking at her, but he was talking about her as he followed her. So he crossed the line, and ventured into the realm of harassment.

It's interesting though, in the survey results that 35% of women reported never being victims of street harassment compared to about 4% saying it happens often or daily. While it is obviously a pretty widespread problem if 65% of women have experienced it, 4% being harassed "often" is a lot lower than most feminist literature would lead one to believe. I mean, I was groped by a female student I didn't know when I was in high school (it looks like they don't count that in street harassment even though it was really a stranger) and there was another time when some disgusting old guy made sexual comments directed at me when I was visiting NYC. So essentially, if I took this survey I am now a male victim of street harassment, even though harassment has only occurred a few times in my life. Not saying I support street harassment, to the contrary I condemn it. It's stupid and disgusting behavior. I just wish people (feminists) would be honest about it; not every woman gets harassed each day they step out their door - and realize that admitting that doesn't diminish the effect on those who do!

When I was younger, super buff, and worked at a bar. I was constantly touched and catcalled by the majority of women who partook of alcohol at the bar. I would be touched inappropriately around 5-20 times a night as I walked by the women. This was not seen as a bad thing.

This is physical touching, these women also commented that they would like to take me home with them, but I was never interested in them and I would threaten to drop my bus tray on them if they did not stop touching me.

Because this man suffered from several issues he was not deemed good enough to hit on her. He was mumbling how hot he thought she was out loud instead of keeping it to himself;

They are right about that though, "street harassment" isn't some sort of force of nature and it is ignorant and intrusive.

There are countries and cultures where it happens and is a normal enough experience for many women, and cultures and countries where it isn't.

You can start by not treating every street harassment as equally severe let alone violent.

As for the app? Is there a vetting process to even try to rule out spiteful people who weren't harassed, or even simple pranks?
