I don't understand why those fake "bad boy" dating profiles work

Ladies, what do we typically find attractive?

  1. Humor and wit
  2. Confidence (not arrogance)
  3. Emotional intelligence, a guy who can be vulnerable, etc
  4. Great chemistry, he has passions, is ambitious
  5. Proper hygiene, some measure of physical attractiveness, etc

We can ALL agree this is largely true. Yes, there are other things sure, but this is TYPICALLY the answer. Then these bad boy "experiments" show up and offer

  1. Abs - shirtless mirror selfie
  2. Toxic masculinity
  3. Terrible personality

By definition these profiles should not get many swipes. But they're pulling in 1000s! (if these "experiments" can be believed). Are guys are lying when they say these profiles get matches?

InB4 "hurr some people like different things loflmayo". I get that, but no woman I know would say they'd swipe on that. Would any of you?
