my wife makes 80k more than me and we tried mediation and it didn't work. someone told me that men don't want to pay alimony 90% of the time but women don't want to pay it 200% of the time.

A mediator can't force it on her and she won't give it up. If its important to you, get a lawyer.

40 more is only like 20k after taxes. Maybe ask for a lump so you dont have to deal with her going forward.

From what I got from my lawyer: just because one spouse makes more, doesn't mean the other gets alimony. The first and most important criteria is, will your living situation impact drastically after divorce - that is, where you making more when married but left your career due to marriage. If so, then you get alimony. There's something about being married over 10 years too, but not sure, as my lawyer made it clear I didn't have to pay any alimony.

Mediators can't force agreement. Courts can force child support payments based on income of both parties. Child support shouldn't be co-mingled with a home or other assets.

I'm not an attorney, but most states have online calculators that will show you the child support amount. Courts follow the online calculators.

You can try with a mediator, but if you don't come to agreement you can use a lawyer.

She will have to pay you. For how much and how long are the questions.

Also depends on how much equity is in the house. If she’s giving you the house and there’s nice equity in it...sell it and downsize to a nice two bedroom apartment.

I was divorced in 2018 and I feel the heartache and desire to keep “the family home”, but to be honest, selling it and pocketing the equity was the best move I could have made.
