Is there any hope, causes, petitions that would somehow change divorce laws? I’m currently in a no fault state, my wife petitioned in February, and never waivered from that decision. We are now 36,000$ poorer from lawyers. I will owe her 1100$ a month for 16 years. At least no alimony.

What I would like to see would be 1) get rid of no fault divorce. Entering into a legal contract that’s binding, saying vows in front of both families etc. and you can just end it at any time for any reason?

2) child support calculators. We have to split every expense in terms of medical, recreational, school supplies etc for the kids. But for some reason I still owe her 1100$ a month? She’s basically going to pay her mortgage payment in CS alone. She’s also a nurse with a masters degree, why does she not have to work full time to support her kids and rely on me for CS. (Again thank god no alimony).

I am incredibly disappointed, traumatized, by what I’ve been through this past year. Our marriage wasn’t perfect, but why blow up our entire lives. The lives of our 2 young kids etc. I could not be more mad at my STBXW. I didn’t think divorce was even an option once kids came into the picture. I don’t want anyone I know to experience this horrifying event in their lives.
