I know a lot of us here were blindsided by our partners, myself included. Well, about a week before she dropped the D-word on me, she bought 3 tickets to see Modest Mouse for us and my our son (16). So then she dropped the news and I was uninvited to the show, of course.

Well, she called about 2 hours before the concert last night to tell my son she hurt her back and didn't know if she could go. This is a pattern for her, every time I tried to take her to a concert her anxiety, or her back, or she starts feeling sick, whatever it is she'd either back out or if she did go, she'd want to leave early. So I took him and we had the BEST time bonding all night. It was the first time I've felt joy all summer long, we bought tshirts and met the singer of the opening band and he finally opened up about his feelings about the divorce and how he feels blindsided by it also. We went to the local open late diner afterwards and just had a great time that we won't forget.
