So I was talking with a female friend yesterday about how her divorce is going. We’re both professionals and earn pretty good money (for our country).

My own divorce (while still in process) will end up with my ex wife getting the whole house, 5 days a week with the kids, and never needing to work again (the law in Ireland is that you are never absolved from providing for your spouse). I am after buying my own house and currently working hard to pay that off in a shorter time than usual . . . Because I’m not young.

My friend (female similar age, and making similar money), will get all of her house, 6 days with the kids, and her ex husband who works 3 days a week needs to pay her for child support while he can’t even afford to rent a place so he lives with his parents at age 47.

I hate to add to the general bile on how out of balance the decision making is . . . But holy shit.
