Court is not the solution every time she refuses to reimburse you $75. There will be times in the future where you need to reimburse her for things. Just keep track of that, and don't pay her more than what she owes you. I'm eight years out from my divorce, and my ex pulls the same stuff as yours. She owes me about $2k. Funny enough, there's about $2k in reimbursements I owe her that I haven't paid. I've got about three years left before my youngest ages out. At that time, I will engage an attorney to send her an "angry attorney letter" (about $150) regarding the outstanding balances and recommend we have the equivalent balances cancel each other out.

You gotta play the long game.

Cost of a letter from your attorney should be enough of a deterrent to keep this from happening long term.

For starters, I'm sorry you're dealing with this even after being divorced. What is happening here is she has finally lost all control over you so this is last way of trying to exercise the paltry amount of power she has. Additionally its a way for her to press your buttons and make you 1. emotional and 2. think short term. This isnt her putting one over on your or 'winning' by making you lose. Its just another part of the process.... You're in for the long haul here.

While it stinks, $75 a month is $900 a year. Make peace with probably eating this right now. Does it suck? Yes. But you're a parent and you've got to do what is right for your kids so if that means you step up and pay, you pay. (and not for nothing when you kid is older this will serve as an example of her not being the parent she should be, should you child ever ask).

As other noted, keep records. Send a payment request. Let her reject/ignore it. EVERY month send an email with the every growing total. Pepper another low stakes question in the email something you KNOW she will answer, so it is an acknowledgment if her getting the email. You will NEED all this later.

Depending on how young your child is there is bound to be another, much larger, cost to something later on. IF you're lucky SHE will pay it and ask YOU for your part. This is where you can take that total, whatever it might be, and say "Well you still owe me for the insurance so I will just reduce that total"

There is likely a large cost on the horizon - some sports league, braces, etc... when she flakes on THAT, then is the time to go back to court with the grand total of ALL of it and hold her to task (and ALSO ask for court expenses!).

Again, you're playing the long game. Don't let her throw you off and give her mental bandwidth over this.

Man, that’s exhausting. The money matters, but so does the burden of being the one who’s trying to follow the agreement while the other person makes it harder than it needs to be. Too often the person following the rules is the one stuck carrying the load.

I’d keep everything documented and as clean as possible on your side in case this becomes a bigger pattern.

There’s nothing you should until the sum adds up to Be significantly more than the legal fees. Keep excellent records.

Does your MSA have a provision for reimbursement of legal fees should a judgment be decided against the other party?
