Hey everyone - I'd like to empower myself with a bit more information on the path forward for a potential divorce.

I tried my best to see if our marriage could work. I've come to the table and made many changes to what she wanted. I'm exhausted, but the tipping point is that the goalposts keep moving but most importantly, her inability to come forward to work with me. Divorce seems inevitable.

I’ve started calling lawyers. I’m in the state of WA. The two things I feel very intimidated about:

Custody - I have a 2yo child who's the world to me. Today I do 75% or more of the parenting. I cook dinners, feed him, bathe him - I love doing this. The prospect of having 50% or even less time with him is so heartbreaking. I feel like she will struggle as a single parent, and therefore I’m worried about my child when he’s with her

  • Question: I know it's fair to have 50/50, and that's what I want the baseline to be. But is there any way I can have more?

  • Question: I’ve heard things around “primary parent” - is that even a possibility for a dad?

Home - I have a nearly 5-year home. The title is in both of our names. The loan is just in my name. I refinanced at 2.5% in late 2020.

  • Question: What are the chances that I can keep the home? If she wants it, wouldn't she not only need to refinance at 7%, pay that mortgage solo but also pay me off for the equity growth?
