If your lawyer responds by making you put in writing that you are not following their advice but are still instructing them to accept the proposal ... think twice. But the only real financial question is, "How far off from what you would have to pay over the years in alimony (adjusted for the time value of money) is 61k dollars, and can you accept that difference in order to end the case?"

Shit man that's not a bad deal. Child support ends at a certain date, alimony is forever.

I'm not paying CS but I'm on the hook for alimony for life which is dumb as fuck.

The 61 k is good to get that spousal support behind you bit of course that depends on your income and hers. Of you worked and she didn’t take it and run as she would be going back every time you receive a raise etc. go for 5/50 custody with no support and expenses split for school i insurance etc. you can try to have the judge rule and settle that issue before the child support then use that income she receives and the home equity against her in the child support portion. If you try at the same time she may renege realizing that can lower her child support

If throwing some money on something to get any level of peace, I am all for it. Just know you aren’t alone. My situation isn’t the exact same because it has happened much faster, but it is what it is. You deserve your peace too.

The “plus 61k” plus child support seems high unless you have a good income. Reason for the divorce? Why’d she leave and take the kids? You getting 50/50 custody? Not enough info here to give good advice.
