I'm 37 with 3 kids (5, 3, & 3). I make 80+k yearly in TX. My wife has not worked in over 3 years. What could I expect and what are my options?

I'm juggling my options.

Option 1: stay for the kids. This is my current plan, but it is very challenging to maintain when all I can think about is an exit strategy. I love my kids and want what's best for them, which is a home with me. I read conflicting reports on whether staying in an unhappy marriage or trying to seperate and create new happy homes is better.

Option 2: divorce. This has really 2 options, divorce now or later. What age have you found to be best for kids to cope with separation? Do I wait until they are in school/she's back at work? What can I expect life to be like after? Divorced dad's with more than one kid and modest salaries, how long did it take to pull yourself back up financially?

I've done a decent amount of research, and, if divorced, I'd likely push for some type of shared nest separation to move the house back and forth along with custody. That way the kids have a stable home base, and money can be saved by crashing with family between stays at the house. My wife's family does not have a living condition that could sustain her and the kids.

This is the most stressful shit to consider. I just want to be happy again and share my life with someone that loves and respects me. I parent better when she's not with me, which makes me want to all the more.
