I was told by several people that my ex was above all else, loyal, committed and I was the love of her life. Especially since I gave her children, she would never ever leave. I believed it too, until we reached the 10 year mark when she is eligible for a lifetime “pension” from me for her years of servitude of staying home while I went to work. Because of where we lived, at 10 years alimony is for life unless she remarries (no chance in hell she does that).

I remember my ex fiance's dad telling me that a prenup is for wealthy people. Poor people don't need it.

In hindsight, that's horrible ducking advice and realize he was trying to set his daughter up for success no matter what.

I haven’t officially left my wife but over the course of our tumultuous marriage she always talked about being amicable if we got divorced. Now that we are in the death throes. She hasn’t outright said it but it’s very clear she will do all she can to ruin me and my relationship with our kids.
