You have no idea how lucky you are though, I'm halfway through my divorce (with 2 toddlers that I love more than anything), but you have no idea how easier it would've been if we had no children. Like I could've just moved back to my home state.

Move on but keep the door open for the kids in the future. At least as a support / role model. Before my marriage, I dated someone with kids. 20+ years later and I still keep in touch with them, have dinners, and chit chat about life via various apps.

Why are your step kids not talking to you? That's horrible, I mean I understand your stbxw wanting a divorce but did she poision the kid's minds as to avoid talking to you? Why would she do that? My man, I'm sorry you are going through this, I know it will sound cliche and maybe you don't want to hear this but, it will be tough for a while, cry if you really need to, and maybe take a couple of days to dwell on that suffering and to cry yourself out, in order to let go of that pain you must first go through it and accept it. It is what it is, that's the only thing you can 100% know is real. She has decided to move on, and as painfully as that sounds, you also have to start focusing on yourself and start moving on little by little.

Now here's a list of things you can do to start feeling better.
Hit the gym, you will release stress and endorfines that will make your body feel less tense and therefore you will feel at least less pain or less sadness.
Take a walk no headphones, just walk it works better if you do it with sunlight.
You mention you don't have any friends, well start doing things you used to do and in the process you will meet new friends, it might be playing sports, video games, or going to movies, pick up old hobbies.

Therapy, if you need it go for it. It's always good to let things go instead of keeping them until you feel like you're going to explode.

Things to avoid:
I know it will be tempting but avoid alcohol or hard drugs, many people go to this to numb the pain, but fall into addictions and it's hard to recover. Maybe some MJ is ok as it's not as addictive and harsh as other substances but avoid it as much as possible if you can.
Don't beg, don't try to fix things, she has already made her mind, she's aware of the pain she's causing you, so it's best to accept it, even though it's hard to believe, accept it and try to move on.

Never marry and never support single mothers, you think they'd appreciate you taking them with all their baggage and past mistakes? They won't. They're even more selfish and entitled.

Man I feel you and so many of us men know what your going through; admittedly every situation is different and ranges from awful to a damn horror story, but it doesn’t matter because once a man crosses this threshold we’re all bonded together by a familiar pain we can all relate too.

I respect you man for being genuine about your feelings and encourage you to lean into a circle of trust like friends/family/therapist/religion (if you are religious that is, regardless churches in my area provide free help no matter your affiliation) even a anonymous group on social media like this one helps. Just remember ultimately your in the center of the circle and that center is the only thing you can truly control. Hang on to the things in your life that are stable for dear life; for me it was my job and parents and then prepare for your previous life with her to become very rocky while you go through this. You will definitely mourn and feel angry, but things do slowly improve with time and the one hope I cling onto is that there are many life lessons to be learnt from this and I will be a much more resilient man. Find some positives from this even if it’s something small and remind yourself that you will be okay. At the end of the day this was her choice not yours so don’t worry about her and her situation focus on you, it’s weird after you’ve spent years caring about others and then to suddenly have them rip themselves away from you but it’s important that you start seeing it that way because it’s not an over night process it takes time.

Hey man. I’m telling you right Now you’re golden. I envy you to be honest. You’re 28 and you have no kids. You can move on and start a new life easy.
