I had a pretty awful marriage and divorce. I mean like really really bad.

But sometimes I forget how bad. A friend of mine is going through a tough custody situation now so this prompted me to go back through the old court filings. And I noticed some thing buried in the middle of the giant pile of shit that was my divorce, which is horrible, but was small in comparison to everything else.

She actively concealed multiple cancellation notices for my life insurance policy that was for the benefit of my kids (kids were not with her). So the policy lapsed. I had to replace it with a much more expensive policy. This wasn’t during the divorce. This while we were married, but I only discovered the policy lapse during the divorce.

There were some high-risk (health) situations that she encouraged. In combination with the insurance policy, things take on a pretty sinister tone.

If I had died, my kids would’ve gotten nothing. She wouldn’t have gotten anything either, but she wanted to make sure that they did not get anything. These were kids who loved her and cared for her, and were sad when she abandoned them.

I am so, so glad that it’s all done. But seriously this is some fucked up shit.
