I would tell her he chose where he wanted to be. In reality, the Brady bunch rarely works. Dad has a big house, and no other children to play second fiddle to. If she wants to pull rank, let her. By the time he is fourteen, your son will hate her. He will try to destroy any relationship she is in.

As soon as she says, "Give up something so one of the steps can have some fun." You don't really have to do anything. Just wait. My friend was in your situation. He kept the family home and brought her out. I don't think she understood how fast a hundred seventy thousand goes when you are not good with money.

She called my friend controlling when he was just being responsible. Crazy thing was her money was her money. His money paid all the bills, and he created the savings she took half. She went from a from a four bedroom home to a two bedroom apartment and back to her mother's house. Kids never trade their own room to share a room and live with a stranger.

Kids 8 so if you can have civil joint family parties I would just agree to alternate for the next few years. If it’s not civil I would just celebrate with a small party of your own. Growing up birthday parties were seldom on the actual birthday, but rather the weekend before or after. As your kids get older most people don’t have big elaborate parties and just get together for dinner or something. Nobody wants to go to a tense party where the divorced parents can’t get along. Either everyone works together to make it pleasant or do your own thing

Just tell her you can alternate birthdays but always have a party for him either way if that what your child wants....... Always listen to him (your child) and his needs and wants. If it's her time on his birthday she can do whatever.. And then you can do a party for him either before or after that at your house or somewhere else fun with a few friends. It's your time with him either on his birthday or befor/after and she can't do anything about it. If she gets mad just tell her it's not a competition and it's your time to do whatever you want and she can do whatever with her time. Over time you're child will see who's genuinely interested in them and thier life and willing to listen to thier wants.

Two birthday parties. She can have hers, you can have yours. It doesn't need to be on the day.

Just pick a day near the birthday where YOU can throw a kick ass bday party with no permission, input, or attendance from your ex. Really quite simple. Great if their friends from school can come, or great if you go on a sweet cheap trip to your local amusement park. Make it awesome and special. Take some photos. Do it every year.

I have my own celebrations for my kids' birthdays, and my ex has hers. If it falls on my week, then I can have it on the actual day; if not, it's either the week before or the week after. Why the F does it need to be on the actual day and why the F does it need to be joint?

Sit alone whit my thoughts pretty much every year. Do a wee campfire..cook some good stew n crack some cold ones...nothing better than this.
