Yeah, after 20 year marriage 25 years together my X wife told me she never really loved me and just got with me to get out of her parents house.

Or and also she hated sex with me.

You really question yourself after a mind fuck like that. Besides probably never trusting another romantic partner I now question myself when dating.

Yup. After the debilitating pain of the divorce bomb subsided, I was able to reflect much more on the relationship. She recently told me she had fallen out of love with me in 2014/15. We moved in 2016, bought a house together, did normal married couple things. And then in 2021 she dropped the worst 4 words ever on me.
But, now that I look back at everything, I can really see that the pain I was feeling is grieving the person I thought she was and wanted her to be….not grieving who the actual person IS.
She definitely turned into someone different than what she presented herself as in the beginning. Or more accurately, she presented herself as someone she wasn’t, and then changed back into her real self soon throughout the marriage.

My ex was exceedingly sweet and girlish when we met, but indicators of her true nature were always there if I’d cared to see them. I saw what I wanted to see and I fault myself for that.

I think sometimes we despise our exes for actually turning out to be…women. Parasitic, scheming, and opportunistic just as nature intended.

Buddy. I’m in the same boat. Found out my wife of 11 years had a months long affair. She then didn’t tell me because she was relying on me for financial support. I gave her everything and trusted her. I’m destroyed mentally. I just wanted you to know you are not alone. People change. Protect yourself. We will get through this. But it is okay to be hurt.
