The reason why 50% of marriages end in divorce is because some people get married for the wrong reasons, such as family expectations, society expectations, their friends, relatives are doing it, so they marry for the wrong reasons, and then they end up not being compatible for each other, and then divorce happens.

They dont actually understand the divorce laws. Alimony is not given often. They act like only men ever pay and all men pay alimony, so not the case.

90% of guys don't pay alimony, you're probably thinking child support and that's if the mother gets full custody. Most states you can only get alimony depending on how long you were married and whether one partner didn't work due to raising children.

Divorce rate is high because people make bad decisions about life partners. Often times divorce is caused by infidelity, money problems, abuse, etc. Perhaps women initiate it more because men are more likely to be abusive and to cheat. Or men don't want to pay child support or alimony and are less likely to file because of that. And since women can be financially independent these days and there's less stigma around divorce, the rate is higher.

I'm extremely picky about marriage. I'm 38 and never married. I intend to marry only once in my life. Unfortunately not everyone thinks it through entirely when they get that ring. Women dream of big fancy weddings their whole life and when they finally get it, they realize they settled for a partner that is not compatible with them at all. That is just one issue with marriage. Then there are people who realize after marriage that their partner has a personality disorder and they become abusive, or their partner is extremely lazy, doesn't want to work or help out with anything, or they mismanage the money, etc.

In the US, alimony is only awarded in 10% of divorces.

So hardly superficial reasons or reasons that aren't due to people jumping into marriage too early.

27% of recently divorced women had less than $25,000 in annual household income compared with 17% of recently divorced men. 60% of people under poverty guidelines are divorced women and children. Since alimony laws are gender neutral (the courts themselves, it's trickier) it is generally the person who is earning more who pays, and the person who is the primary career for the children who receives the child support. Since women generally earn less they are less likely to pay alimony. Since women generally are the primary care givers to the children, they are paid child support. (Child support is about the rights of the child, not the rights of the parents)

And it seems to be that men who are entitled to alimony generally don't ask for it: According to the U.S. Census, only 3 percent of the 400,000 people receiving alimony are men. A significant reason for that, say attorneys who practice family law, is simply leftover biases from another era — not just by the judges, but by the men themselves. As one Northern California divorce attorney puts it, “[O]ld stereotypes die hard.” He goes on to say that many men find the thought of asking for spousal maintenance “emasculating.” Divorce attorneys say that they have very few male clients who intend to seek support from their estranged spouse even if the difference in their incomes warrants it. If you don't want to get married, don't get married. There are plenty of women out there who also don't see a need for marriage as part of their relationship. It sounds like you don't like the idea of a good marriage (comparing to to slavery - really?) as much as you're scared of the idea of divorce. I imagine most people get married because they love their partner and want to commit to building a life together, as a team, and see marriage as a way of legitimating that. I suspect that very, very few people go into marriage expecting or wanting divorce.

Can solve this problem by having LTR specially only with childfree, non-marriage and non-living together woman. We are out there. Honestly, I feel that more men want the whole marriage, kids and white picket thing nowadays than a lot of women I know.
