To me, the members seem permanently angry with women, all women, AWALT.

That pretty much sums up TRP, really. Anybody who's actually out of any kind of anger phase doesn't need to bitch about women 24/7.

I speak here regularly about Redpillers in very condemning tones. I don't mince words, I find the idea of building a community around the ideal of being self-centered and sexist abhorrent.

But that doesn't mean I don't understand them. Understanding and condoning are different things.

See, there is a social expectation that as you grow older as a man, that you will be the one taking control of your life, you will be the one to catch a woman, as if women were rare fishes that need special lures instead of people you need to form friendships and complex relationships with. We feel we are supposed to be the leaders and the approachers and the "strong" gender who makes things happen and never shows insecurity or weakness. This pervasive attitude and unspoken "rule" of society is reinforced by media, parents, and idealized stories that people tell.

What this means, is that if you are someone who falls through the cracks, so to speak, or if you have problems with socialization, or if you were like me, and you were brought up in an unstable household without healthy social interaction, the prospect of somehow going out into the world and taking charge seems completely unfathomable. Many of these young guys are the kinds of people who are more comfortable dealing with orderly systems, patterns that can be managed and predicted, and their real strength lay in their minds. Or at least it would normally.

Redpill is a combination of wishful daydreaming and niche community reinforcement of said daydreams. It's also a way to alleviate the anxiety and guilt that they feel about wanting things that seem out of their reach. It provides an explanation for heartbreaks they may have experienced, or reasons why they have failed to reach their ideals of masculinity and success with women.

Redpill is a way of inventing a language for organizing and applying patterns to people and situations, it makes sense of a world that does not seem to make sense, by applying pseudo-science derived from observing animals and a lot of exaggerated caricatures of human behavior. When you have difficulty socializing, caricatures can be fit over people and make the nuance of real human lives seem less daunting. When you are locked into your own pain, frustration, and insecurity, Redpill cartoon lenses color the world in 2-dimensional, almost non-human tones, and this makes your own bubble universe far less lonely, because it's not necessarily better on the outside. See that group of people having fun over there? It's not because they have friends and you don't, it's because you are still a Beta, and the Alpha Chad of that group has attracted the fickle females with his dominance. That woman clinging to that man and smiling at him? You don't need to be envious that you aren't loved like that, she can't even feel love the way you do, instead see it as female behavior, she wants to either control him and is manipulating him, or he has gained control himself and she is just trying to retain his attention. Definitely not love like you and I wish we could have. You can almost hear the jungle noises in the background. See, you are now the enlightened one, everyone else around you? They're the animals, the sheeple.

The more you look for a pattern, the more the world will seem to fit that pattern. It's like The Tetris Effect. You see shapes falling into place everywhere you look, and then go back to the community and tell stories that further reinforce this picture and this community becomes like a family of people who see the way you do. Combine in elements that actually do create real-world results like taking care of yourself, exercise and establishing boundaries with others, and you seem to have a package that explains everything. An instruction manual for life that tells you who you have to become to get all those things you wish you had.

Unfortunately, the bulk of Redpill is still just fantasy. It teaches self-centered beliefs, and as most of us grow older, we learn at some point that without empathy and compassion and understanding of other people on a one-on-one basis, we end up alone so most of the young people subscribe move on once they get past college age and develop a new scale of emotional and social understanding after experiencing real life a little. The turnover rate of Redpillers is high, with the ones who never change remaining behind to become the pied-pipers and preachers for the next generation.

I think there may have been some Red Pillers who took to heart the message of taking women off of a pedestal and improving themselves, but once they did those things most of them left TRP... what more did they have to gain by staying? The men who stayed were the ones who couldn't get past their anger and misogyny. This resulted in a sort of survivorship bias (the concentration of misogynists increases because less misogynistic users are less likely to stick around), which in turn leads to selection bias (the only men who would join a misogynistic subreddit like /r/theredpill are men who already have a deep seated tendency toward or tolerance of misogynistic attitudes). It's a vicious cycle.

Yeah, it's not a phase. I don't believe a philosophy that dehumanizes women could ever lead to happiness in relationships with them. I lurked for a while after my recent break up trying to figure out what I did wrong and after seeing several long term people still complaining that life felt empty and meaningless and how disgusted they were with the women they would meet, I realized how awful of a world view it is.

Sometimes the weaker characters among us will find a scapegoat or someone to put down to feel better about their own shortcomings and insecurities. This particular brand picks women for the job. Of course plenty of their rhetoric is contradictory. None of it is coming from a rational place, so it's not going to make sense.

What you're seeing is projection and low self-esteem. They're fixated at increasing their "value" because they don't feel they have much. They brag to other insecure people online to try to convince themselves they do. And for all their posturing about women being inferior, their whole system is about getting a woman to worship you and never leave you.

I really think the only people who leave anger phase are those who realise they have bought into a cult. I was angry and misogynist and was saved by the fact I read Mark Manson and made an incredible female friend at the same time.

Just take a look at the history of men wiping their feet on women, and projecting all their frustrations/failures/issues onto them starting with a WOMAN made Adam fall from heavens and other fairy tales. nothing new under the sun. The RP is just another name for Men and Their Usual Ways.

You are absolutely right. There are many butthurt men (or should I say child) who always cry and whine about how women are sluts, gold diggers etc.

But, there is a big but here that there are still very experienced guys out there who still share quality insights. It is very rare but it is still there.

When most of them use the phrase "swallowing the pill" what they refer to is the understanding of their value (lack of) and that almost nobody would care for them.

A true tRPer would get the information, and immediately start using this information in the real world, turn these insight to experiences.

So there is no point of hanging around those forums everyday for a couple of years..

The anger phase is a strawman.

First, you are pitched what men generally love about women. Feminine, maternal, generous, kind. It evokes the image of Mom and the girl next door.

Then you are told it is all a setup. That women are biologically wired to trick you into giving your money, time, and, DNA. That they are out to use you until you are left with nothing and then move on to the next guy.

To back that up, they cite promiscuity in HS and college and the fact that hot chicks go for hot guys, and you, skinnyfat redditor, are not what she wants. These are anecdotes and half truths that walk you into their conclusion so the reader now has the perception of evidence.

AWALT takes hold as the reader builds up his own strawman to hate (ex-gf, or crush that friendzoned him) and he sees AWALT everywhere he looks (confirmation bias)

"But what can I do? I want to have sex!"

And that is precisely how every marketing campaign works. You have a problem, we have a solution. It is very, very effective once a customer determines that they NEED what they are selling to get what they WANT.

When the reality is the young guy just needs to mature some, take care of himself, spend some time achieving goals and pursuing his own development physically, mentally, and spiritually. You don't have to look like Channing Tatum and be the Alpha male of any group to get a gal who will screw your brains out.

haha you touched the goldmine and the source of all the problems with redpill and similar forum boards :D The double standards there are enormous and some of them are aware of this! And the worst part that those men who are aware think that men actually are, evolutionary and morally and in every other possible way better than women. So it is ok fuck around for men, but not for women. Because they are men. These people, well, of course not all, but the vocal majority, are total morons.

That's what I took away from it too, there was no winning.

If a red piller came up to you, wouldn't you run like hell?

It's like any other job.

I can cook, clean, bake and serve like a champ. If I want. I can donate selflessness time and money if I want.

But I don't have to do it for a tyrant. I can do it for an older person, or a homeless person, or a church.

It's my time and service. If I am to serve and kowtow there has to be a valid cause.

That's what's missing from RP is they don't seem to think there are other options besides them or a rest of the world besides them.

Besides why would you serve the strong who can serve themselves, at the expense of the weak who can't and who need you.
