Hey, I'm just here to share my story of how I joined and left the red pill. Maybe it's interesting for someone to read 🙂

I'll start with some context. I'm 18 right now and got into the red pill when I was 16. A year before that, at 15, my relationship ended in a very hurtful (for me) way. As a consequence my confidence was completely broken. I generally didn't see people in a positive way because at that time I was bullied at school, and generally in most interactions people were dicks. To add onto that, my family is very much traditional and abusive.

It started as an innocent desire to improve myself. I tried to understand why people behaved the way they did and how that can be changed. Why did no one seemingly like me? Self-improvement was a no-brainer; looking better, feeling better, people reacting to you better? Bring it on.

One day I came across this channel: Hamza. This was in 2020. He seems to genuinely care about men and how they're doing. He tells unfiltered stories of his life. He felt the same way I did. He went through the process he explains and is now "getting women and money" and seems very confident and respected. That's all I wanted too! And this might be an unpopular opinion, but in his older videos he had some genuinely good advice, although it was full with implicit demeaning of other people and women in particular. So I started watching him and learned a lot from him. Over the time he slowly started shifting into the red pill again and dragging his viewers with him. It was creeping in slowly. These ideas my family already promoted are also believed by a respectable guy like him? Maybe there's some truth in it. So I decided to trust him and follow these ideas.

Eventually I found myself in a very dark place. At that point, men were all competitors trying to bring me down. Women only cared about status and money. Who wants to live in that world? Does really no one care about each other? But it made sense, that must be why other people treated me the way they did! But still, throughout the whole time, I felt like something was wrong. People couldn't really be like this, right? The world cant possibly be such a shitty place? I must be missing something here. So eventually I decided to research more about the red pill, in particular what speaks against it. That ended in me finiding this subreddit.

Since then I've learned a lot about myself. About these beliefs. I've been able to develop a much healthier world view and I'm definitely not part of the red pill or related to it anymore. I will likely start therapy in the near future, partly because of the damage the red pill has caused me.

It sucks seeing so many people also stuck in this world view, I almost want to call it a trap. But I get it. By the time you realize somethings wrong it's too late. It was very hard to question my entire belief system and punch holes in it. For a long while I preferred to hold onto the beliefs I already had.

A big thanks to everyone in this sub reddit. You helped me dodge, probably, the biggest bullet of my life. This is one of the few places where the red pill can be criticized without backlash from people in the red pill. I'll probably stick around but I won't be posting. You're doing the lord's work here, helping people get out of this crap. I admire the patience some of you have, from personal experience I know how frustrating arguining these things can be.
