TLDR: I’ve have very little dating experience and constantly feel like shit about it but feel like I can’t trust anyone with this sensitive information. I don’t even need advice but i think men are generally not very supportive emotionally so I tend to avoid close friendships with men. I feel like I can’t be close with women because my mind will always convince me it’s some sort of set up even if I’m truly not interested that way and any sort of emotional insecurity is a turn off. The result of not having any real friends other than superficial work acquaintances.

So just for some history, I’ve rarely directly asked other guys to give me dating advice (if I have at all). What I’ve done is be open about how I’ve never had a girlfriend but only hooked up a few times despite being 23. I lost my virginity when I was 22 and I was extremely insecure about it so I thought to overcome that is to be more open about my lack of experience.

This seems to give men a green light to give their shitty advice. I’ve had men recommend me to go out dancing, wear cologne go to a brothel etc. So obviously not actual advice.

Responses like this led me to believe that I probably shouldn’t trust men with highly personal insecurities bc they’ll just try to do this whole dick measuring thing and give advice to another guy because it boosts their ego. It also led me to believe that TRP, while it’s full of shit, it’s just the average attitude of most if not all men (at least in the highly hedonistic and pretentious culture of west coast America, where I live)

So now I don’t tell anyone anything that’s personal and don’t express much to people. When I do I usually come off as awkward. Keep in mind I work with mostly women and I think that men who are awkward with women is a really cringe quality to have because it shows you are more akin to an child who doesn’t know how to talk to people than an adult who knows how to build relationships.

Realizing all of this led me into TRP, and because I think that social awkwardness is such an embarrassing and shameful quality, I don’t even bother trying to date or even make friends anymore.
