I really can't relate to this. Two of my best friends got married young (20 and 22), and I was single at the time but I was so overjoyed for them. I was crying at my one friend's wedding more than any of her family members.

I think people forget that bitterness and jealousy are not sex specific, and not confined to a certain point in life. Even look within TRP, there is so much hate towards "chads" or men who have an easy time finding women to date. And we see this from men of all ages. I think that misery is something that emerges from insecurity and exists in a person well before their friend's wedding.

I feel, anecdotally and with no evidence, like I've heard more stories and had more experience of men feeling bad about coming stag to weddings, of feeling like they are out of synch with others. But I think the better argument is that if you're really struggling romantically to find someone to connect with or you're having a rough time after a breakup, going to a wedding can be painful for anyone. Watching other people have what you want is, in the most generic sense, painful. By the same token, if your goals aren't marriage or you're happily single or you're healed post-breakup and just haven't met someone, I don't think it'll bother you all that much. How much drive you have to be a coupled person is very much a case-by-case individual setpoint.

I think it's true if they are single and don't want to be single. Then yes, attending weddings or being around friends that have boyfriends and husbands might invoke jealousy.

There are single people content with being single, but there's also plenty of single people, men and women, that desire to have a significant other.

This was probably true 20 years ago because everyone got marriage and kids in their early 20s.

Now times have changed. Most of my friends are single, so in the rare occasion someone gets married, I'm just genuinely happy for them

Depends on whether they want to find a spouse or not. Like anything else.

And if TRP's idea is this only applies to women, I'd ignore TRP.

I am not unhappy being single. I am unhappy, casue I have depression :D
Sometimes I do get lonely - mostly for physical contact as I am a touchy person, but at the same time, I have zero faith in relationships.
I've only felt peer pressured when I was way younger. Now It's mostly my grandma and people who feel sorry for me, cause for them having a relationship is their biggest goal. - I mean to each their own. I intend to make it so I am okay regardless if I am single or married - that means I'd rather be single than in a relationSHIT.
That combined with my lack of faith in relationships and not being in love for years is probably what keeps me single. But I am not ashamed of it., or sad about it At this point just winning against my mind and living another day is a win for me.

The only Wedding I was sad at was because I and my friend were doing the entire decoration and at first I didn't like how it turned out.
It's free food and drinks and (hopefully) happy people - Why would I be sad at that?
I suppose tho i'd be different for people who fear staying single and so on.

Well, in a way, they laugh, but really, that's what a lot of red pill people want. They want to be single, but have one-night stands. I don't think either is fulfilling. Being alone when you want does have a lot of benefits.

20+ years ago, my college job was a valet parking attendent at a really nice restaurant / wedding banquent hall. Best job ever. Nevermind being around cars, descent tips, the service industry down time hilarity, but there was on many occasions a lonely drunken bridesmaid who went outside for some air where it was easy to strike up a conversation. They weren't miserable, but afraid of being alone or finding their own way to rebel a little. Especially the single sisters of the bride. Sitting behind a keyboard now - damn I miss that job.

Idk, everyone I know who is in a relationship is so unhappy. When girls get together we just rant about what our boyfriends did that pissed us off. I'm pretty happy with my single status right now. I do not envy my friends who have relationship tension.
