I'm not feeling it, where is her own agency in it? I agree on not panting over people who couldn't care less, but I'm not gonna love anyone who loves me. Nor do I have the time to waste on haters.

This is reactive living, not proactive.

I needed to hear this. I pulled back from a platonic guy friend. He is needy and became used to the attention I would give him in responding to texts. I gave a lot of emotional labor, bringing him vitamins and books when he was depressed. I gave him advice on dating. He drinks every weekend and I do not, so I pulled back a lot. Also this year has been challenging with a fam illness and a move. He never checks in with me. If I mention something, whether bad news or even good news like a fun date or a retreat I did, I am met with “oh ok” or he’ll start talking about himself like “thats cool, i haven’t gone on any dates lately” or “oh I think my dad had that illness”. I said something to him once and he basically said he doesn’t inquire about peoples lives and I can share what I want him to know (what’s the point).

So now I don’t respond to him. I might give an “ok” but I’m not engaging. I can’t block/delete yet because we have business related things ww still have to communicate about. Last night he asked where I have been and then immediately followed by telling me his 2 friends are in town. Again. About. Him. Ugh.

I am trying to the feel nothing part.
