In terms of your wording. I believe it's important to note that not everyone who is Hindu is stupid or extremist, but you can get people who are extremists personality. Hinduism is a pretty chilled religion. So although people might be part of it,the religion doesn’t condone shitty behavior. I feel I need to point this out because whenever someone feels the need to talk about sexism in India, they start with the religion when it is in fact matriarchal.
Also the caste system is a man-made institution. It wasn’t really practiced until the British came to town. People perpetuate ignorance.

I am myself a hindu and i never meant hindu s are extremists,its just to clarify as you know muslim extremists and sikh extremists also exist in India. Sorry but castism is as old as time. British had nothing to do with it. Read manusmriti how it laid rules and regulations for different caste

Some scriptures have certain jobs for certain people. There is a theory that it only became categorized as the caste we know today as a "divide and conquer" method.

It's still jarring to see that Caste is very important. My friend wouldn't have met her husband if her family had considered his caste to be important. My friend argued that since they don't live there anymore, caste shouldn't matter.
Heck, my friend wouldn't have met her other friend if caste had been important as she was considered a lower caste and wouldn't be able to hang out with her.
