I’m wondering if anyone else has experience trying to get their parents to understand their FDS mindset?

For context, I have a great relationship with my parents, we are extremely close and see eye to eye on pretty much everything.

I want to be a parent but marriage is not my Plan A. I will shell out $50,000+ to adopt a child, become a foster mom and/or hit the sperm bank before settling for a LVM. I’ve told my parents 10 million ways that men these days are garbage and I’m not going to ruin my life by tying myself to one just to reproduce on someone else’s timeline.

In my opinion they’re frustrated that all their friends, family and coworkers in their peer group have grand kids and it makes them feel inadequate.

I have tried so hard to get them to see that they should be proud of me for having high standards in men, because it means they raised me well and to have high self esteem. They’ll buy this for a little while until they start to feel inadequate again. I just wish they wouldn’t see my unmovable high standards as a flaw.

Curious if anyone else in this sub can relate?
