They both sound awful. But if your partner knew that, why did he want to have lunch with them? He wants to move out of state to get away from them, but will have lunch with them? I don't get it.

The LVM sounds extremely abusive. Strikes to me as someone who is violent when no one is around. He is scapegoating the wife.

I don't understand why moving states would be a viable option because of literally one couple moving here. That sounds crazy. Can he not just remove them from his life?!

No he just apologized because he wants to instill the good-guy image into your and your husband's heads, while simultaneously putting this poor woman down even further with the scolding. He acts nice to the outside world, but abuses his wife, openly. When will someone scold him?

Such a LVM doesn't respect anyone, he just fakes niceness. If your husband wasn't with you, he wouldn't fake respect towards you either

I can't even imagine being with this kind of people longer than 1 minute. I don't think I ever met someone with this level of "honesty". What makes them say all these nasty things aloud? What a garbage of people.
