As a russian, I can say that on one hand, Soviet times really helped with feminism in Russia - in early Soviet days 'career woman' and 'woman who has it all' were heavily promoted by Lenin and his clique, thanks to which we have quite a lot of female executives, and I believe at certain points of time Russian workplaces were even more feminist than European ones.Yet we have two bad jokes played on us:

Lenin died and Stalin came to rule. While Lenin tried to create 'true' career woman and infrastructure which will support 'career woman' (pre-school with late stay, maternity leaves, canteens/ready-made meals so that women don't have to cook), Stalin was more conservative. Stalin curbed all 'too feministic' policies, and since 1950s Russian woman had to: be career woman, since SAHM smells like capitalism AND be a great housewife. Basically doing double shifts every day.
We had a lot af wars in the previous century and lost a lot of men. Therefore there were multiple generations of pickmeishas who were happy to settle with any NVM, since even nowadays there is international stereotype of single woman=broken woman. There is no shortage of men anymore, but pickmeishas have upbrought a lot of NVM sons, who somehow think that they are in demand.

That's legacy we have been left with after collapse of socialism and that's why so many Russian women try to marry foreign men.

Modern men are going to have to adjust themselves and step up if they want any chance to be with women. Modern women no longer NEED to be with men to survive thanks to feminism. They will now need to make us WANT to be with them or else most women will happily choose to remain single and stress free.
