I'm new to this sub, and reddit in general, but after reading some of the posts here, some questions started to develop in my mind.

  1. Everyone here seems opposed to cheap first dates. Maybe I'm naive or something, but...what's wrong with a cheap first date? I've always thought of that as a good thing. Aren't dates supposed to be more about getting to know each other than the food itself?
  2. What's wrong with splitting the bill? I *completely* understand the "putting women first" thing, but if both parties pay for their OWN food and the woman isn't paying for the man's food, how is that favoring the man?

I'm genuinely curious to hear y'alls opinions! I'm honestly a little scared of making this post, I worry that I'm going to sound like a troll or criticizing your idealogy. I'm not. I just haven't encountered this idealogy before and I'd like to hear more about it!

Thanks all!
