I’m watching this show on Netflix called Private Practice. I think shows like this normalize casual sex and are harmful. The show is about three female doctors and three male doctors in their 30s/40s that practice together, and of course they end up having sex with each other, usually resulting in drama.

It’s rare that I see characters on the show going on a proper date. I think there was one or two real date scenes and I’ve watched like 20 episodes. Even though they’re all supposedly rich doctors. There’s very little courting or flirting, it’s like they lock eyes one second and are on top of each other the next.

Another character is a doctor from a local hospital who gets entangled with one of the male doctors and who loves role-playing and keeping it casual. She just showed up once at his apartment offering herself in a trench coat and edible body paint. She doesn’t seem to like or respect this doctor at all outside of the bedroom but at one point she has a pregnancy scare and they’re dreaming about having a baby when as far as I can tell they’ve gone on zero dates.

It glorifies dirty, forbidden, secret, quick sex at work in the closets and private offices. It would all be wildly inappropriate in real life. How would you like to share work space with a male doctor who keeps having sex in his office? And the women are usually the ones who want to “keep it casual” and give their bodies to the men, who shrug their shoulders and go with it.
