I've always loved platinum for some reason and told my bf I want a Platinum ring on engagement. He always agreed with it, no problem. Then yesterday, he was watching White Collar (TV Series), and he sees Peter's (one of the protagonist) wife Liz (Elizabeth) escaping a room by using her ring*.

I got a message from him like this:

(Well, his desk is usually neat...)

Message: Now you'll be getting a diamond ring

I just saw the message first in my notifications, and I was like what happened. Then I saw the video. Then I felt myself giggle and think "it's wonderful to live with someone who truly loves you".

Green flag noted.

Level Up noted (I can always ask for the diamond on the platinum band).

Safety upgrade noted.

Now just a moment ago I saw a post on LibFem logic about rings; arguing 'we don't need rings or materialism in love' is all well and good till you realize for some reason you're bargaining downwards in life whereas love means you should be upgrading in life. Automatically. Usually. Mostly. Wonder where libfem is going wrong? (sarcasm on the last line, in case someone missed)

* - The premise is that diamond can cut glass, so the lady was trying to escape her kidnapper's locked room by scratching it repeatedly with the diamond on her engagement ring. My bf felt that this was extremely critical from a safety point of view, and he upgraded my choice of ring :D
