Such 👏🏼 Good 👏🏼 Advice 👏🏼
Number 4 really hit me. I often thought I’d be better as just friends with my LVM ex, but once the blinkers of attraction were taken away, I realised he was a worthless, abusive, narcissist who didn’t deserve my friendship or any part of my energy.
Therapy Pro Tip for Getting Over a LVM: Visualise what his ugly personality would look like in human form every time you miss the attraction or sexual chemistry. My ex was objectively very good looking, but a creepy, mouth-breathing, neckbeard type inside, who would use Reddit and porn instead of human connection, because no one wanted to be around him in RL.

Totally! My friends are all so HV, why on earth would I want to date a boring or messy man I wouldn’t even want to be friends with.

That makes me think of my STBX in a different light. On the one hand we could discuss a lot of things and agree, but what did he ever really give me for support? Nothing, honestly. What the heck was I thinking?!

7 is good. If you can’t accept a behavior now then pass on the relationship. It won’t get better. I remember reading that committing to a relationship means choosing a set of problems that will never fully go away. There’s no fully compatible person to you (and someone just like you would irritate you in other ways). You have to decide what conflicts you’re willing to engage in repeatedly because of fundamental differences in personality. Edit - sorry for formatting glitch, lol

I saw this on the front page earlier and thought it was funny how everything from FDS is on there.

I took it from the front page, and thought it would be a good addition for everyone on here.

Oh it definitely is a great addition. Just observing how this sub's users are always bashed as demanding and high maintenance by having these same standards.

A lot of people have kneejerk reactions to the idea that women are allowed to have any standards at all. We're supposed to be 100% available all the time for others but not for ourselves.

I actually saved this because I wanted to post it on here as well, and like you I saw that everything is basically what FDS also says, except when other subs say it it's suddenly socially acceptable and not controversial lol

All this advice is gold. I think the main advice that is reflected in all the tips is to try and pull yourself out of the dating bubble since love causes changes to your brain due to the dopamine and oxytocin high of being in love and the strong bond that is created. That's why they call the feeling of being in love equivalent to an addiction.
I always try to think of it as, if my best friend was in the relationship instead of myself and asking me for advice, what would I be saying to my best friend? Would I approve of the relationship or of the man? If the answer is no for anything, then I need to think about whether he is someone worth having in my life (which means no).

I agree with all of this but number 3 sticks out the most.
My co-worker rarely reciprocates. So I’ve stopped trying to get her attention. It’s sad, because I really like her, but it’s time to move on.

I did the same and it’s a great reference.

This is perfect. I feel like this isn't the norm and that the norm is so toxic. It's sad.
