When we were young adults, my brother was sports obsessed and I was and still is the least interested in it. I openly hate watching sports and getting invested in any one team, etc etc. I actually like to play sports tho. But watching it on the couch....just fucking no.
He pulled that line on me about how no guy will ever like me if I don't like watching sports and getting involved in it. And I said, "Good, then I won't have to deal with a sports bro for the rest of my life." His brain about broke.
By the way, dear brother, I have met many men who don't a flying fuck about sports.

It's a ploy to keep women in relationships. If her personhood isn't wrapped up in her boyfriend, she will think for herself and have separate interests that don't involve him😱. The horror!

Well we can’t have women realizing that being single is significantly better for their physical and mental health now can we?

Guys literally froth over my (pickme) friend because she follows the rugby on a real-time app. She actually hates the rugby and never had any interest in it but has started keeping track of it because the outcome of the games determines her boyfriend’s mood (e.g. if his team loses he’s grumpy for the day and becomes a literal pain to hang out with). But when my friend and I are out at bars, guys swoon over her when she says “Be right back- gotta check the rugby results!! Don’t want my boyfriend to be moody when I get home tonight.” It’s like they suddenly ignore all my other friends (who are single HVW) and instead FALL IN LOVE with her and come running to me saying “wow!! I really like your friend!! She’s amazing!! What’s her favourite team? What are her thoughts about (insert name of random rugby player)?? Does she watch it every Friday night? is she SINGLE?? Your friend is so cool 😍”
Ugh. Did they even listen to her? She has a boyfriend and literally only keeps track of the rugby because she’s scared of having to deal with an angry whiny man-child of a boyfriend. These guys don’t care about what her interests/personality/values are, only that she’s a pretty blonde model who will supposedly want to talk about rugby with them. Men’s standards honestly...

They're so self-centered, it's like they fall in lust with themselves rather than the person standing in front of them.

it’s weird because they’re falling in love with perceived similarity. Not actual similarity. They’d settle for a girl that will tolerate their rugby rants (probably because they have nothing else to talk about) rather than look for someone with actual long-term compatibility in values/goals/etc and appreciate the actual person in front of them (as you stated).

This brings to mind those gamer girl provicative photos, a pretty, barely dressed girl suckin on a joypad or something similarily idiotic. And guys in comments "Ooooh this gurrrllll is GOALS". All that matters is you're hot, naked and surrounded by his fave gadgets that he can blabber about for hours and mansplain. When guys I dated heard I like to game, they were ecstatic. When it turned out I beat dark souls series or could beat them in tekken, they seemed to have forgotten about ever Talking about games again. Like the topic never existed. Losers is all I have to say.

I don’t know much about gaming but I love that you’re calling out how men want a girl interested in similar things under the express condition that she is not better at it than he is. You go, girl, kick his ass in Tekken.

Shallow people aren't deep, nor do they have clearly defined values or standards. We view their behavior as "settling", and it is, but really there just isn't much going on beneath the surface for them.

Ah, the cool girl trope.

You are 100% spot on. Don’t get me started on all the cool girl things she tries to tell me about porn, “pleasing your man”, being kinky, picking up all his hobbies, etc and how to maintain that sexy bombshell look just to impress him... I love her so much as a friend but ever since men had walked into our lives it’s been quite iffy with her- she’s notorious in the group for ditching plans with the girls just for her boyfriend who she already spends time with 24/7.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic.

Hahaha. I’ve put that I loathe football. 😂 Guys still expect you to be a football widow. Um no. Wearing a jersey on your profile? LEFT SWIPE. Not that I’m on any right now. My first foray after FDS was like WHOA. Don’t know that I’m willing to do that again.

My coworker was talking about his "loss" and I panicked - my sister was found and I was notified by the police a few hours later last Tuesday (25th). I was terrified that he had now lost someone too.
He was talking about the leafs and Canadiens.
We are a small office so saying he had a loss while I'm sitting there after three days off due to single handedly planning my sisters arrangements.. just... Wow.
It's very important to read the room when you knowingly have a greiving person in your vicinity. We are a sensitive bunch, and rightfully so.

Watch Barrett Poll on tiktok - he has a series called "straight guys aren't straight".
He's absolutely onto something.
