To add, female infanticide is prevalent in countries that prefer girls over boys. 1.05:1.00 (boys to girls) is a world average. It’s even worse in countries that prefer male babies over female babies, because the ratios are more disproportionate where men outnumber women. Knowing this, it’s why I don’t settle for bare minimum.

Yeah I find many of those ‘evolutionary psychology’ ideas end up being an exercise in perversion for men. You can think up some reason for anything if you think hard enough enough.

On the front page a few days ago there was a shower thought about evolution selecting for premature ejaculation as humans are vulnerable to predators during sex. Hes telling on himself!

Have they heard of bonobos? Has he ever been camping with a woman?

Plus, this theory would only solidify the other thing they hate: that a small number of men, are getting all the "girls". Which is it? They can never choose. 🙄

In my country in the past it was common for men to take on multiple wives. The reason for this my mom explained was that lot's of our men had perished in war and you could not survive on your own since life was kind of simple at the time.

In the past you needed a family unit to rely on/survive. Men would mary multiple women for that reason, to be a protector for the single ones. In my culture this tradition has since diminished. Occassionally you'll see the really wealthy ones with two wives, but never regular joe.

This tradition of marrying multiple wives wasn't something for the sole existence to please men.

Also harems are awful. Concubines were enslaved women, sometimes as a result of war or human trafficking where a powerful asshole would enslave the most beautiful women as collectables. No woman in her right mind should encourage for this to come back!

Not to undermine your point because I agree that cheating and polyamory are not acceptable even under the guise of « biology » - sex ratio is not impacted by reproductive behavior. For example, gorillas are polygynous and have harems, but the sex ratio at birth is still around 1:1 male to female. Has to do with how sex chromosomes are sorted at fertilization. Now whether all of those male gorillas go on to reproduce is an altogether different matter…
